Most of them deserve to rot in jail, not just suffer ‘election defeat’.
It’s amazing to me how many Tory MPs are looking for an exit when it looks like they’re set to lose their seat. Almost like being an MP and representing your constituents is second to earning a big bucket of cash with a job in government or as a consultant for some dodgy company looking for influence.
Public service as an achievement in itself has very little value currently. At all levels
Ironically getting Brexit done would end up being the death of the Tories. 🤣
Anyone that was seriously paying attention in 2019 knew this would happen. There’s no version of Brexit that benefits the UK and the best the Tories could have done was blame the failures of it on someone else - but that massive GE win cemented that all this failure fell on them.
Prior to 2019, it was easy to blame labour and the rest of parliament for constantly blocking any Brexit bill they tried to push through, but not with a majority that big.
Nobody could have predicted the pandemic, but anyone who’s paid attention to the Tories for more than 5mins could have easily predicted that they’d use it as an excuse to bung their mates and siphon off even more public money. It was a grand ol’ time, unlimited public funds for their mates if they just half heartedly promised to find some PPE but also don’t worry about it because fuck the poor people, let the bodies pile high.
The Tories absolutely deserve annihilation at the next GE and they only have themselves to blame.
They won’t die. The party system is far too entrenched.
Oh they’re starting it early this time.
“DON’T WORRY THE TORIES WILL LOSE SO THERE’S NO REASON TO GO VOTE”
spoiler: it’s lies. Vote
I’d say this is pretty obvious, but a week is a long time in politics, and 16 months is even longer (I can definitely see them hanging on until the last possible election date, which is 23rd January 2025)
I mean we give 300m/week to the migrants. Isn’t it time we fund the NHS instead?!
… or some shit like that. And people will gobble it up and vote Tory because “labour can’t be trusted with the economy”.
It’s all so predictable. British politics sucks.
I would really love to see the Tories destroyed now that Boomers (fuck the environment , love cars, screw immigrants) are finally dying off with Millennials (no money or housing, anti-car, pro-environment) stepping in as the dominant player. Everything the Tories have been doing has favoured the spoilt demographic that’s disappearing and they need to be crucified for that.
Probably, but the memory of the general populace (not the individual) is extremely short, mere weeks. They could completely turn this around with the power of simply waiting for everything to blow over. It works shockingly effectively.
Let’s say the Tories lose though, then we get Labour instead. Big whoop. They’re basically the same with a few little differences here and there to appeal to the non-rich class, differences which are so skin deep it’s insulting that they think we don’t see through them.
They’re all cut from the same upper class cloth, with the same world views on everything from capitalism to…well, they don’t really think about anything else. Everything is just an extension of the economy to them, the money stream that keeps their donors and friends wealthy, and themselves after they retire.
Everything they do is to forward the interests of the people that helped get them where they are, their investors, and themselves.
Even the token “good” things they do for the country are veiled moves to put money into the pockets of their allies, or at best an affordable price to pay to placate the masses for a while (like a business owner paying for a little Christmas party, knowing the goodwill it generates will lead to fewer workplace issues that could cost money from lost productivity, etc, and thus they will come out with more money overall).
Once you realise that Tory, Labour, all simply act in the same way for the same interests, with nothing more than a coat of paint between them, you realise this whole charade if who wins is, well, just for show.
You know who I’d like to see have a go at building a UK government? A fresh one, with zero ties to the ruling class and the wealthy and connected? Bernie Sanders. Bring him in and see if he can do a good job setting up a new party for a new start ❤️
Thank you for listening to my little ramble by the way :-)
