NC used to be the heart of the “New South”. i.e. Southern charm without the racism. (It was a work in progress, but damnit, most people were trying.) Then the Koch brothers funded a bunch of backwoods racists and mercenary consultants to bring in the gerrymandering and now the majority is just suppressed by these assholes.

It is not just in the South. The Great Pacific Northwest state of Washington has seen its incarceration rates rocket as the number of billionaires that don’t pay state income taxes also happens to increase there.

It blows my mind that the voters there aren’t rioting over this blatant move to enable and hide all current and future corruption in broad daylight.
Religion is the main reason people vote here followed by skin color.
