The nazis promised to remilitarize and got all those old vets on their side and put them back in charge. If hitler lost power, they’d be back out the of the military because they’d go back to not having a military.
Now, as time went on they started to draft everyone, even children. But they were trickling into that culture and often didn’t live very long. Zero chance to change the culture.
I get the knee jerk emotional reaction to call them monsters and say the only reason they did monsterous things was because they were always monsters
But that is not only wrong, it’s lulls everyone into a false sense of security. We need to understand how this shit happened last time to stop it this time.
