In response to ongoing concerns regarding the safety of its female passengers, rideshare giant Uber reportedly introduced a new feature Wednesday that allows women to request a nonthreatening eunuch driver. “With UberCastrated, female riders can feel more at ease on their way to bars and spin classes knowing their driver doesn’t have testicles,” said Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, adding that thousands of harmless eunuchs had already signed up to drive for the service. “We listen to women, and we know what they want—hairless, sexless drivers medically incapable of feeling any carnal desire whatsoever. This honestly would be a massively popular feature. Also yet another reason that autonomous vehicles are seeing success as they emerge.

Remote operators + external speakers are a way to handle rare situations like this.
right until someone figures out how to get into the driverless car unnoticed and has a private rape chamber…
one would hope they have cameras inside the cars but… corporations…
Vehicles like Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxi don’t even have external door handles, so it would be even more difficult for someone to break in than a car - and there are emergency door release handles inside the robot, so also easy to exit the “rape chamber” you’re imagining.
And yes, cameras inside and out.
Grizzly Bear drivers would be better. Less dangerous for the woman, more dangerous for the guy who followed her out of the bar because she turned down his gropy advances. And probably no worse at driving than the average.
I saw bear and thought big gay dude, and figured a grizzly bear would just be a bigger burlier gay dude and thought ‘hell yeah, some weirdo creep gettin his ass beat by the biggest gay dude around while its raining men is bumpin from the dudes car. People would buy tickets for that prize fight.’’
While the idea is mildly amusing, I don’t care for making light of very valid safety concerns for women (or anybody, really). The green-lighting of this article screams insensitivity at best, worse misogyny, and I don’t even wanna mention the worst possibilities.
It’s the Onion – satire satirizes. Also, it’s already a feature for women to request female drivers and preview their reviews. This is just taking it to its (il)logical conclusion.
Wishing this was real.
