“Furthermore, Variety claims that Ellison’s goal is to turn Paramount into a MAGA-friendly environment, with content in the TV and movie divisions expected to be more “America-centric” and geared toward “the middle of the country.”

I just blacklisted Paramount in my home.

The pledge, organized by Film Workers for Palestine and published Monday, initially featured 1,200 signatories, including filmmakers and actors: Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay, Boots Riley, Adam McKay, Olivia Colman, Mark Ruffalo, Riz Ahmed, Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Harris Dickinson, Guy Pearce, Jonathan Glazer, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Elliot Page, Payal Kapadia, Joaquin Phoenix, and Rooney Mara.

Kind of seems like Paramount’s loss. Oh well, they may not have the actors but at least they have Larry Ellison and an unwavering commitment to genocide.

It sure looks like the likes of Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo won’t be making movies for Paramount in the foreseeable future.

It sure looks like any movies with Javier Bardem, Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, and Mark Ruffalo will be the only ones i go see in a theatre, and I haven’t gone to a movie theatre in years. Possibly a decade or more, I can’t remember the last movie I saw in an actual theatre.

Consumers blacklist Paramount for anti-semitism. Because Palestinians are semites too.

(Yes I know linguistically it was originally created as a political label to prevent persecution against Jews, which means we can co-opt it as a political label to prevent persecution against Palestinians)

No, they are not. Some people might not care about or have any relationship to Palestine but still be against genocide on principle. It’s also possible to hate Palestine or Palestinians specifically and still be against genocide. Equating pro-Palestine (or even pro-Hamas / supporting terrorism) with objecting to Israel’s actions in Palestine is racist (Zionist) framing of the issue. I can’t remember any other time it was framed like this- during America’s invasion of Iraq in the 2000s we protestors were called “anti-war protestors” and not “pro-Iraq protestors”.
