“Döner” (sometimes called döner kebab) is the name of a type of popular Turkish street food sold in Germany. (Like the taco in the USA.)

It’s like a kebab sandwich. As far as I’m aware, it does not actually exist in the USA. But, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen it mentioned in English.

We’ve got it in Canada, and it’s especially popular on the East Coast, like Halifax.

But yeah, I’m in Ontario and I know there’s a Donair place ten minutes from my house.

One is Greek and one is Turkish. I believe there is a difference in seasonings and meat choices.

Plus, döner meat is usually cut off a roasting spit right in front of the customers’ eyes, which I understand is vital to the experience.

Not quite the same. Similar ingredients but wrapped in a much more drunk friendly way.

They might not have made it fly-over country yet, but almost everyone in any major city knows what a döner kebeb is.

To know it is to love it.

It’s very common in England. Yummy, too, albeit not very good for the guts.
