Every country has it’s own Christmas songs. Do you remember some from your childhood? Do you have favourites? :>
In the Netherlands we have a song by a comedian called Flappy. It is a song about a boy who cannot find his pet rabbit on christmasday, and is looking for it all day, and if he is sweet, he will get some candy Then when evening comes his dad happily serves him the rabbit. Then the song continues gleefully that his mother woke up the day after, and she couldnt find her husband. The son then tells his mother that if she is weet, she might get some candy.

Damn that’s dark
In Japan, expect to hear Wham!’s Last Christmas and Tatsuro Yamashita’s Christmas Eve a lot.
I never listened to a song that is so very “Schlager”. I don’ t know what you call the genre in English, but Christmas Eve certainly is “it”. And I think that’s beautiful.
Also, happy cake day.
It’s of the CityPop era, but it is much more melodic and toned down compared to most other songs of that style.
Yamashita wrote it as a throwaway song to fill out his Melodies album. He thought it wasn’t that good. Now it’s a radioplay tradition and there’s a movie based around it.
Yeah, every time I hear it start I immediately get goosebumps.
