Glengarry Glen Ross with 5 of the greatest actors of 20th century Hollywood. (TW: Spacey)
Going to STRONGLY disagree with Now You See Me unless you have a room temperature IQ. It’s a heist movie for idiots.
I only remember it as fun. I don’t remember the quality, the plot, the characters, the setting, or the execution. I think I was trying to get into someone else’s pants. Maybe that’s the fun I remember.
I’ve also never felt a need for a rewatch or sequels.
Ok, noted. No to Now You See Me.
I vouch for skipping mission impossible 2. The entire rest of the series basically retcons it anyway.

The Star Wars side story Solo is actually kind of a space heist. I enjoyed it and think the hate is overblown.
The Thomas Crown Affair and After the Sunset are two Pierce Brosnan movies that both involve some fun heisting as well.
Just remembered, Guy Ritchie loves a good heist flick. Lots of his movies qualify. I think Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels counts, Snatch, The Gentlemen, and even sort of The Man from UNCLE.
Supporting the Guy Ritchie films, for sure. Those should be right up OP’s alley.
Had tried to remember Wrath of Man with earlier as well.
If we’re naming Sat Wars, the Andor series has a good heist arc.
Gone in 60 Seconds is a childhood classic of mine.
The Usual Suspects is about a heist but maybe not a ‘heist movie’ from memory but definitely worth watching despite having Kevin Spacey in the cast.
The D&D movie was actually a pretty good heist film
I havent seen “Logan Lucky” mentioned. Thats a fun one. Plus it has Adam Driver as a one armed bartender in it. Also, “Den of Thieves” is pretty good. Violent though.
The TV show Leverage is basically a heist every episode.
Can confirm, this one is really good.
Bottle Rocket The Italian Job
Definitely try watching the series Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) if you haven’t yet. A lot of the story is driven by a hostage situation but the scenes involving the actual heist planning/execution are really well written and interesting imo
I started it but that Berlin creep just disgusts me so much I can’t watch it. Does he die?
I honestly don’t remember 😅 I pretty much disliked to hated all the characters but enjoyed the technical aspects (no idea how realistic it was just thought it was a neat concept)
Another film that isn’t technically a heist movie but still a crime drama that involves a heist that I really like is Sexy Beast (2000)
Ben Kingsley is absolutely amazing in this! Him getting through the airport cracks me up every time.
If you don’t like Heat then you don’t like heist movies.
As someone who absolutely loves Heat, I don’t really think of it as a “heist movie”. It’s definitely got some heist stuff in it, but what defines that genre to me is that the whole movie is building up to and executing one big heist. Imo it’s more of a cat-and-mouse crime drama, and a fantastic one at that.
For anyone else reading this, if you haven’t seen Heat, it’s well worth your time for the diner scene alone.
Any man who wants to know how to talk to a woman, should pay close attention to Neil meeting Edie.
Heat remains in my top 5 movie experiences, 30 years after I first saw it.
I watched like 10 minutes but it was too dark to see anything and the audio killed me. Also I don’t like movies with dudes that look like pedophiles
Also I don’t like movies with dudes that look like pedophiles
Which dude in Heat looks like a pedophile?
Idk
Dude that’s pretty gross self tell
Dog Day Afternoon
The Italian Job, but not the shit remake starring Marky Mark.
Kelly’s Heroes
The Train (1964)
Money Plane. It’s a smaller one, but definitely go in blind.
Welcome to Collinwood
