…what if I reuse the same plastic bottle? I’ve considered switching to metal, but I like to leave the plastic in the freezer overnight so a large ice chunk keeps the bottle cold all day.

I’m no expert, but I’ve heard that it’s much worse when you reuse the same plastic bottle. Single use bottles are designed for single use, and they break down after multiple uses and increase your microplatic intake.

my understanding is that reusing a temporary bottle is bad, as the lining breads down after a semi short time span (months?) some plastic bottles are bpa free and have some better linings and don’t break down so fast but will over time anyway.

i like metal because metal is metal \m/

I have a reusable bottle made from Tritan plastic. Supposedly it’s safer and more durable than regular plastic bottles but I’m not sure how much of it is just marketing

Probably most of it. Tritan is similar to the plastic used in disposable bottles. I’m sure it’s modified to be better in several ways (definitely usually heat and impact resistance), but it’s fundamentally still similar stuff.
