    I think you are missing the big point that there is not much difference between the tories and labour. There is, apparently, no alternative and this is one of the reasons that the country is abandoning the centre ground and polarising.

    A lame duck polling as bad as Starmer is, obstinately using the levels of party bureaucracy to hold back any alternative is only going to make a reform Government increasingly likely.

            It seems like you see politics as a game of Rock Paper Scissors, but it’s not as simple as that.

            Will Starmer automatically win against Farage? There’s certainly no evidence to suggest that so far.

            I wouldn’t even say Burnham is particularly left wing; maybe against Farage but that’s not saying much.

            Not that being left wing is inherently a vote loser. A lot of political popularity is down to personality, which Starmer doesn’t have but Burnham does (in comparison).

            Maybe with a Manc accent with makes him look slightly less professional.

            85% of the UK isn’t London, much of which prefer a Manc accent to a London one.
