Nah, there’s a big difference between them. Minecraft was a $150 million budget movie. It had a director and like 7 screen writers. It involved multiple A list level movie stars and top production companies like Legendary Pictures, Vertigo Entertainment, and was based on the biggest video game in the world.
Iron Lung was self-financed by one YouTube star. It was directed by the same guy in their theatrical directorial debut, written by him, and stars him. It’s 99% of the movie is him. There’s like 2 or 3 other people shown on screen, most of them don’t even have Wikipedia articles including the co-star, a couple are voice actors or YouTuber. It’s got a budget of only $3 million and it’s based on a small indie game most people have never heard of (including me lol).
One was made because the game is popular and they wanted to make a billion dollars, and they basically succeeded. The other one was made because a successful YouTuber played a game, enjoyed it, and decided to make a movie. It’s not the greatest movie, but I would consider it a passion project.
