That style holster is used for tactical purposes if you are sitting a lot, aka in a transport or in the air. Your pistol is a lot more accessible to you there than at your hip. Or so people say. Personally 3 o’clock on my hip is a quick draw so I don’t see the point. Maybe if you are carrying a lot of gear?
