Hey all,
I just wanted to open a brainstorming post for possible future variations on the game.
Note that this is just for fun and that i hold no weight toward game decisions.
Here’s a couple ideas floating around in my own head, what’s in yours?
- Speed click: First team to press 100* times wins
*Obviously this should be calibrated based on expected participation - Short timer, for length: No teams, only community effort to make it last as long as possible but the timer is shorter
Perhaps instead of short timer, the press value degrades over time. Basically a sub-a-thon, tbh - Lowest score after 24hrs* wins, but still have to keep the game alive until then or else nobody wins
*Needs calibrated for feasibility

What about making a list of stackable modifiers, and before the game starts everybody selects a set of modifiers to vote for.
I like this, but I’d change it to having rounds of modifiers since lots of people join the game after it’s already started. So either the modifier can change, or multiple modifiers can be added over time. The multiple-mods one sounds the most interesting, especially if the mods can combine/interact but would need playtesting to make sure some combos aren’t broken (or let people vote for broken, that’s still fun).
Consider adding orange as a team.
Edit: Citrus lovers, don’t let any clown appropriate the colour. Remember tangerines.
Can someone confirm if we have the technology for something this crazy?
What’s crazy about orange?
I’m not sure that’s appropriate to discuss here. 👀
(Nothing lol)
Lowest score after 24hrs wins, but still have to keep the game alive until then or else nobody wins
What if it played like hot potato? You can only press the button if it’s the same colour as your team; then you select the colour of another team, as if passing the hot potato to them. The team with the lowest score wins.
Oh that would be very interesting!
Collaborative version. Button presses have to go in color order (ex. Blue button only Blue team can press the button and make the button Purple). Goal is to keep the button alive for (x) amount of time or bonus, as long as possible.
Also, may be cool to have a new variation each time the game is played.
Maybe which colour is next isn’t known ahead of time. Maybe the colours are actually pixels that fill in an image.
That would be really cool!
Slap fight: clicks regenerate. Clicking the button starts a five second timer. During the countdown, clicks work as normal, but after five seconds the button is locked to whoever pressed it last for five minutes before it can be pressed again
Interesting, I wonder if this would incentivize people to click immediately or to hold off.
Consider: Two buttons
What about a 5x5 grid of buttons? Then give each player one press each 15 min. It’ll end like a mix of button and canvas, it’d be fun to see people strategising over it.
A 5x5 light puzzle, where hitting a button toggles the buttons next to it. Battle to see whether “on” or “off” has more time.
conway’s game of life but buttons
