When I see growing nationalism in Europe and the whole world, climate being fucked up, what will create a migration catastrophe and wars, rich becoming richer and poor getting poorer, I think the world is burning and going to a catastrophe, and there is too late for a world revolution. World is already in fire and angry people will go to the far right and nazi instead build communism. China will not save the world since in my opinion it becomes nationalist and focused on making private money; it is just the least disgusting of the main players. It is not Deng Xiaoping’s China anymore. The fucking world will burn soon. I do not see a reason why bring children into this world and actually live here. Is there a light of hope?

Giving off some thermonuclear energy there, but yeah. The world sucks right now, all we can do is educate ourselves, organize, and hold on to hope.

Fascism is in rise in Europe because of accelerating contradictions in capitalism, it is its natural response, and climate change is basically the dialectics of existence manifesting as a response to the global need of an end to capitalism, this also accelerates capitalist’s contradictions and brings closer the prospects of an international revolution. If it will succeed, it is hard to tell, but what’s clear is that either we achieve the dictatorship of the proletariat, or we either achieve the end of history.

I feel kind of similar about unwillingness to bring children into this world. Things look bleak.

Except I am a little more hopeful - historically things going to shit were a prelude to change. It’s hard to say if we personally will experience socialist revolution in our country during our lifetimes, but I find it hard to believe that eventually there will be none. At the very least it will happen in the Global South, for example, and the struggle will continue. If humanity survives the worst, the sun will eventually shine and I am almost certain that capitalism (still a very young system which proved to be a failure) will fail, making space for social progress.

Considering that I was depressed most of my life, I don’t feel especially bad right now. Either we win and things get better or we die, fighting for the better world. Both options are better than just sitting there and being confused.

I think that things will change and it’s up to us to stay on the right path and try to make things better. World cannot stay on the path it is right now on and I really think there are more and more chances opening up. Stay strong, Comrade.

Maybe the Global South, as you say, is our hope and quite probably China will support such countries.

or we die, fighting for the better world

If things would went so far, what is not completely unrealistic given the situation, thinking that my son would rise without his father is even more depressing.

Anyway, this song is so powerful it cheered me up: https://youtu.be/iUhAnHNc3kU

I’m very sorry - I wish that someday we will have a conversation about these things in a more cheerful tone. One way or another, there will be a fight and that’s good that you’re staying here with us.

Comrade, your concerns are true and your wishes for a better future are genuine. However myself I can’t but look at your writing and think to myself “How am I not concerned by that”, truly it’s a question that bothers me now and one I’ll look to answer some day.

How can I knowing all of these horrible things and not plunge into a sea of depression? I think the answer is revolutionary optimism even if I’m not 100% sure of it.

The rise of nationalism concerns me also, but I’ve seen a reaction to it even if mostly on the internet. More Polish sounding nicknames on TheDeprogram subreddit, seven Polish people on Lemmygrad; it all may seem so little, but compared to all the users here we are an existing minority. One which is easily recognizable, and who knows how many people will become radicalized due to this right wave in Politics? I’ve seen it myself in my friends who’ve not read anything of political theory, and yet they start to go further left without my input; I just push them there a little bit more.

The world is on fire, and that is due to capitalists ravaging the planet. We might say that a radical reaction to all of these horrors will happen too late, but I think that will happen just in time. The worsening of conditions will continue until it is no longer bearable for those that are suffering from them and we might see the beginning of something great.

You know that before 1917 there was 1905, and before that even more organizing and we are in those times before 1905. I can only say it is our duty to educate and organize, even if our work begins here as 7 idiots on a commie link aggregator forum. China is not our messiah, they are only here to help us after we cross the river of revolution and we must first start moving towards that river. We could help other principled leftists get to move there.

Myself I’m young, just got into my 20s, I’ve got a lot ahead of me. I’m scared for my family, I don’t know how things will go for them and for me so I devote myself to spend my time with them however best I can now. I don’t want to bring children into this world because I don’t think I’ll be a good father, hell I think a child would be a hindrance for me and the work I want to do. I don’t want to neglect a kid like that.

If you’d like to help me on a certain project I’m working on, please contact me on Tox, please DM me for my ToxID. The project itself is only in conceptual stages now, but I’ve got people on board with it and maybe you could help. It won’t start immediately, and will require time to prepare but we can make something with it.

Hahahaha, he just stuck out with that nickname. It cracked me up the first time I saw it, and then it turned out he was actually an authority on all things Polish.

So I would sometimes be browsing and if I saw a topic about Poland and he hadn’t commented yet, I would think: ‘‘I bet Comrade Poland is gonna show up’’, and he would, and that would make me laugh again, and then I’d learn more from him.

😛 Hahaha, I was a little forgettable, too, since I didn’t comment often.

The cases of left radicalization described by you are cheering and I am very happy to hear that. In my environment it looks different: my family and work environment range from neoliberals to fascists and religious fundamentalists. I see a big disproportion between conservatives and people with left-wing perspective. Even that, conservatives and religious fundamentalists in Poland feel “oppresed” what is a fucking absurd.

I am in second half of my 30’s, recently working about 10 hours per day and running on vapours of my energy. I am supporting my wife and my little son, and my wife only takes care about the son so far. Therefore, I may not be too much time-available. However, maybe I could help somehow in your project, especially, if it is connected to technology. I can program in C++, for example. BTW, what is your name in Tox?

I’m sorry for the environment you are surrounded by, I unfortunately also have met some less than stellar people at work. However I do not have the same disproportion as you do, my family is happily not christian fundamentalists. Really when it comes to their politics it’s hard to say if they even care beyond the slightest amount of electoralism. They took the grill pill I guess.

And yeah, the cathols here for some reason really want to be oppressed for some god forsaken reason. I only wish for that to be true lmao

I also see that you have way more responsibilities than I do. I’m only working temporarily and will return to study soon, I don’t have any people that depend on me, in fact I depend on my family. I also am rather happy that you wish to collaborate on the project, it’s however not programming and please, don’t push yourself if you don’t want to. I’ve send you more details in the DM.

I suppose that suffering is central motive of this religion, symbolized not only by crucification of Jesus (who actually was a leftists and a human of course), but also depicted by the radiculous Old Testament.

I like the project and its idea, but I need a week or two to more organize myself. I usually am, but last months are hard.

I understand your pessimism as a Pole, as I feel similarly about my doomed country, the US. People will be turning more and more toward reaction as the imperial periphery rightfully severs ties. But, we must remember that with fascism emerges it’s dialectical identity (opposite) communism. If we organize we can triumph, for we fight for the whole human race. I personally think that fascism cannot last forever due to its internal contradictions, but extinction can. I have hope in those fighting in South Africa, Kenya, and other places, if not for the global north. We must remember what Gramsci wrote from prison:

You must realize that I am far from feeling beaten…it seems to me that… a man out to be deeply convinced that the source of his own moral forceis in himself — his very energy and will, the iron coherence of ends and means — thathe never falls into those vulgar, banal moods, pessimism and optimism. My own stateof mind synthesizes these two feelings and transcends them: my mind is pessimistic, but my will is optimistic. Whatever the situation, I imagine the worst that could happen in order to summon up all my reserves and will power to overcome every obstacle.

P.S. I happened to be listening to ‘Christmas truce’ by Sabaton when I wrote this and it helped me gain a little optimism

That’s motivational, thank you. I added Gramsci to my self-education list. I feel that we are just in the front of culmination of the fascism in the world. I hope that the dialectical opposition will be strong enough. It is so good that the countries like China and Cuba are a stable opposition, and more countries will join.

China does not need to save anyone. They only need to do trade fairly to undermine imperialism and the people need to build socialism in their own country. Socialism is not something that one country demands on another country. It is an answer to a call from the people in each country. The workers need to create institutions that meet their needs. And those institutions need to topple the power from the Borgiose state. Each country needs to figure out how to do that for themselves.
