I think after the polling came out that Biden lost the Muslim vote, and to them that automatically means Muslims support Trump for some reason, it’s definitely their subconscious desire.

They don’t like Trump, but they still want minorities who are disillusioned to ‘get what they voted for’ for not choosing Biden.

American Muslims used to be one of the most solidly Republican voting demographics. I’m not sure of the exact reason why.

But that entirely flipped after 9/11 and now the Democrats can’t help themselves either with how much they hate Palestinians.

American Cold War policies towards the ME was pushing for Islamist theocracies as a bulwark against evil Bolshevik atheism. So nominally, the US had to be friendly towards Arabs, though Israel was constantly throwing a wrench in those plans.

Perhaps these nominally friendly relationships resulted in American Muslims being pro republican? I know that Carter, a democrat, started the Middle East policies, but I don’t remember if it was known publicly during his time.

It’s also possible that it’s more general. Conservatives took a hard line stance against anything left of their hand, which means they were constantly portraying democrats as godless hippies who wanted to destroy the family and god.
