Lee delves into the U.S.'s declaration of war with Yemen and its connection to Israel and Palestine. #unitedstates #israel #gaza #yemen #comedy #news Lee's...
Al-Houthi also urged popular actions against Israeli aggression. He suggested that people who support Palestinians should withdraw their money from banks of those countries who are still supporting Israel.
I’m confused about the intended outcome. I understand the symbology of everyone taking their money away - is that basically the only reason to say it? I know that the underlying purpose would be to take fuel away from the engine of the imperial machine, but it seems unlikely that taking out of banks all the money of every single person on the planet who supports Palestine would make a difference, because the accumulated wealth of the owner-imperialists is so much larger. But maybe it would make news if all the regular people started pulling their money out of banks? Idk.
The most generous reading I can think of is as an allusion to stop doing business with those countries. A subtlety like that may have been lost in translation. On the other hand, most people still believe in the myth of fractional reserves, and so believe that withdrawing bank deposits could collapse the financial system.
Quite the opposite: US-led maritime force will not stop Yemen’s Houthis from enforcing blockade against Israel
Paper tiger.
Reading that was good for my soul, thank you! ❤️
