Why would anyone care, honestly. Right now most articles are actually written by some special interest and then copied by all the media outlets with minimal changes. Ever seen an error in a report on e.g. CNN and find out that same error was made by some paper in Germany? That’s why. Journalism was already dead, so it’s time to stop paying the hacks and just let the AI do it for free. No one should be reading non-local news anyway as it’s propaganda. If it’s true, you can be sure it’s just by coincidence.

Well, we opened this door with all the other stupidity. There’s no such thing as “trans gender”. There are people with mental illness. Pedophilia is also a (different) mental illness. Everything is not some kind of expression of uniqueness to be celebrated. Some stuff really is just broken.

Utterly irrelevant. Most things don’t affect many people. This is destroying women’s careers for no benefit and it needs to stop. Trans athletes can compete in Mens/Open leagues right now. They don’t want equal rights, they want special rights.

What do human rights have to do with anything? You don’t have any right to be on any team. You have to earn that privilege. Women’s leagues are restricted leagues, based on biology. Biological males do not have the privilege to compete in these leagues: trans or not.

People always rush to say how RARE this problem is. Serial killers are also pretty rare, so what? There are women who worked their butts off chasing a dream and right on the cusp of achieving it a mediocre male athletic decides they were really a woman the whole time and comes in and destroys those dreams. If that happens even once it’s too much.

Women’s league is a restricted league so only biological females should be competing there. “Men’s league” is actually just an open league, you can be a biological female and compete there if you’re good enough. Trans people can compete there without issue.

As for people who want to make this about rights: being part of a restricted league is no kind of right. If you’re going to go that route then why don’t we just go all the way and force sports teams to take overweight, out of shape people too? Wouldn’t they have those same rights?

It’s not infighting. What makes a system like a fedaverse more resilient is being able to break association if needed. There is no central group that can force standards on you.
