          That’s ISO 8601.

          While I’ll concede that it’s the best one for sorting thinks that span more than a year, such as the photos on your phone, DMY makes much more sense for everything else.

            Okay I totally see your perspective and I could stop there but I love arguing so let me play devil’s advocate here.

            The year is most important, especially if you assume it’s the current year but it turns out not to be:

            The important party is tomorrow, next year.

            Your last doctors checkup was three weeks ago, ten years ago.

        Seriously DMY is the way to go.

        I forget what day it is, generally I know the month and year.
