Just had quite the fright when my dog started shaking and peeing all over the place. I counted the roaches in the ashtray and deduced that he ate three of them, leading to what the emergency vet called “cannabis toxicosis”. Come to find out, weed is wildly toxic to our dog friends. I know some people like getting their dogs baked, and I’m not here to judge, but please think twice. Fortunately my dog friend will be just fine after he sleeps it off, but he’s clearly uncomfortable and my heart breaks for him. Take care of your dogs.

I don’t understand joint smokers. Why? That’s a legit question, not a dig. It just seems like a waste of time and weed when one hit of a water pipe gets the same job done with about 1/8 the materials.

I’m glad your dog is gonna be okay though!

I use a dry herb vape 90% of the time, if I have a joint it’s more of a social thing and the journey is part of it.

Daily dynavap user here. I swear by my dyna and use it every day but sometimes my gf and I like the social aspect of a joint and will roll a joint for those days where the dynavap just doesn’t hit hard enough.

Cool man, I have a volcano collecting dust because it seems like a production (it isn’t, it’s definitely me) to use.

I like a concert joint. Like a random person just passing it to you. Hard to beat the feeling before it was legal in so many places. Like the implicit trust, plus a nice hit of some strange grass.

I wasn’t a fan of those volcanoes for the most part. The new ball vapes on the market are something to checkout these days, it’s a completely different experience.

Here are reasons I’ve found it ideal to use joints.

-you’re out and about and don’t want to carry a pipe around.

-you reside somewhere you don’t want someone else finding your pipe/bong/paraphernalia.

-you’re smoking socially, have a limited amount, and don’t want to keep packing a bowl.

-you live somewhere where cops give you shit about paraphernalia, so you want a way to smoke without post-session evidence.

      -you fucking felt like it.

Thanks for asking, OP. It’s always nice to see new perspectives!

I can dig it man. I’m a little older and don’t run into a lot of those situations.

I do appreciate the ditchability of the j. I don’t think it’s ever stretched a small amount for me though. You really have to have a group of people who don’t bogart at all to even break even.

That being said, I can imagine what it would feel like to want to roll a j, and it feels cool.

All the best to you and yours man.

It’s all good, my dude. Personally, I’m in a similar boat. I haven’t rolled one in over a decade, since I’m now an adult living in a state where it’s recreational. It’s no longer a focal point of social gatherings.

I just remember having this discussion back when I was a broke ass kid living somewhere less progressive, worrying about my landlord or cops busting me for this nonsense. My friends and I would buy green from back alleys and smoke in parking lots for lack of better options. Js for smaller groups, blunts for larger ones.

I haven’t smoked in decades, and back then it was illegal as hell. Being able to drop a joint and not worry about paraphernalia was an advantage.

In high school I got illegally searched by pigs and almost got kicked out of school for having a bong stem and a mushroom in my pocket.

        One hitter is small

A lighter and papers isn’t paraphernalia? A pipe/bong can be for tobacco and other stuff as well

One hitters accomplish this as well

Papers and lighters are paraphenilia as well.

        Only real valid reason there.

It’s not really “perspectives” when it’s just excuses that apply to other stuff as well mate….

Can say the same thing about bong combustion people, check out ball desktop vaporizers. You use it with bongs. People can even use about 0.05g and get the results they want. Depends on tolerance ofcourse.

Yep like 5 years ago I switched to a desktop vape and it’s a no brainer in terms of flavor, my health, and my wallets health. I also make edibles with the decarb and basically get close to 100% use of all the cannibnoids . Literally no point in incinerating the plant to ash

I’m not the person you asked, but I recently switched to a Dynavap M Plus with an induction heater (I bought a koilboi, but there’s plenty of others or you can make your own!) And a water pipe. For the M Plus, anything with a 10mm female connection will work. The one I use is from temu and cost 7$. Definitely would recommend getting water filtration going for it, as the Dynavap on its own is a little harsh to use all the time.

Seconding the Dynavap - my buddy and I both switched around the same time (I have a B, he has an M) and its a great way to get started with vaping. It does take an adjustment if you’re used to combustion, but I have found it’s now hard to go back. One of the best things is that Dynavap is such a cheap, straightforward device too - I think you can get a Dynavap B for like $40 or something now.

For me it’s just logistics, I can’t smoke at home or usually out front, it’s not legal, blah blah, so I go for walks. A joint may look different from a normal cigarette but at least it’s not a whole-ass bong.

Back in the day, I always used the one hitters painted to look like a cigarette for smoking on walks.

These days thc vapes don’t look much different from nicotine vapes. Even small dry herb vapes look pretty similar to nicotine vapes.

I prefer the smokey flavour of a joint compared to the dry herb vaporiser flavour. I find dry herb flavour almost sickly sweet and it can make me nauseous. I definitely prefer the efficiency of the vaporiser tho. I can use about half the material I would for a joint and be proper stoned. Plus it doesn’t stink up my clothes.

And it is not just for joint butts. “Normal” cigarette butts are dangerous, too. One cigarettes’ filter is poisonous enough to kill a toddler.

Just for the record, cannabis alone isn’t very likely to kill your dog, although it will make them very uncomfortable. And uncontrolled urination is a very common side effect. And I’m going to judge, don’t give your pets cannabis. It’s abuse.

Also, some sugar free edibles also contain Xylitol, which is always a worry, and shows up in many common things. For example, Trident gum contains 0.17mg in each piece. With an ld50 of 0.1mg/kg a 10kg dog could die from eating 6-7 pieces of gum. Many sugar free peanut butters also contain xylitol.

The moral of the story is keep dangerous things (including cannabis) away from your dogs, and know what stuff is dangerous, since danger can be hiding in many common items.

Yeah even if it’s not lethal (which it can be for animals), I can confirm it was not fun when we had to take care of a relative’s pitbull mix after she got into a package of high caliber edibles while they were packing for a trip.

It took days for the poor pooch to recover, and the whole time she was a puddle - literally. In addition to her looking like her face was melting off, she was drooling, couldn’t walk, and completely lost her ability to control her bladder.

Do not recommend - watch your edibles around your pets too
