I don’t know how many medals have been won with a hand casually pocketed like that, but I’m guessing the number has been low since the Poetry and City Design competitions were removed from the games.
The hand in the pocket is, oddly, the most conventional part of the picture. It’s a single handed event, and hand in pocket is a nice repeatable way to rest the unused hand.
It is the lack of stylish Borgwear that really stands out.
The only way it could have been cooler:
