Please don’t do this to me. The whole point of a console is convenience, and it’s not like you had to test for multiple platforms. You control the hardware.

They have what, 3 variants of the console? Regular, Slim, Pro?

      Meanwhile on PC…

No. They have 1 model with 2 cases. They use the same internal components, but the slim has a more compact cooling solution.

Only difference specs-wise is that the Slim has a ~1 TB SSD compared to the ~850 GB SSD

Thank you for the correction! I thought it was like the PS3 where there was different hardware inside the different models. Well, some of them.

…but wait, if all the internals are the same size, why wasn’t the regular one the size of the Slim? Is it just space from having the disc drive removed?

            Sorry for the late answer!

The slim uses 300 W, the normal one 350W.

Why? - They simply redesigned the motherboard (to make it smaller and more efficient, produces less heat), they used a 6nm chip instead of a 7nm chip (same power, but less heat generated), they oped for a more passive cooling solution.

Is changing the one chip enough to count it as separate hardware to test?

Not to mention that different cooling capabilities could result in different performance, too.

Im a pc user, and the pc world is still a lot more complex than just “regular, slim and pro” versions. Different hardware and combinations males it a lot more complex.
You could say “low, medium and high end pc” but that means nothing as even a medium pc could have different cpu’s, gpu’s or even ram timings…

But yes, the different console versions is stupid

Microsoft and Sony? I mean, I get it. All major corporations are fucking monsters. But…sometimes giving those particular companies no money is pretty damn hard. Money goes into their pockets from more places than you’d expect. Also, what, are you gonna suggest some ethical indie console?

Well, it’s your choice, I don’t give either company my money. I’d suggest switching to Linux and start pirating everything.

Pirating still shows companies that their product has demand/value

You’re better off switching to Indie games only to really protest the game publishers

I mean not really. Even if they have a rough idea of how many times their game has been pirated by looking at seeder counts on torrents or whatever, theyre definitely not taking those numbers as a win and saying “look how many people didnt pay for our product, that just proves everyone really wants it”. Theyre comparing sales numbers.
