This is the first time I’ve seen the Haruhi manga adaptation and man, it’s so weird not seeing the KyoAni character designs. The light novel designs are better, but even then the KyoAni designs are a major glow-up (see also: K-On!, Hibike! Euphonium).

I looked up the character designers for the anime I mentioned and found out that 1. K-On! and Hibike! Euphonium have the same character designer, Shouko Ikeda and 2. she died in the arson attack

It feels like that’s the same story when I open the page for half of anyone listed in the staff of a pre-2019 KyoAni show, and it’s never not going to be a kick in the gut. “Wow, look at this accomplished person who helped make these cartoons so great, this person seems satisfied with their life, seems to have a nice personality,” and then boom, “July 18th, 2019”. What an absolutely fucked situation.
