The fact that these centrists just want to “turn down the temperature on politics” means they don’t actually address any deep structural issues or make real change. So it is just 4 more years of them holding the bag on these crises, and the rabid right’s job is made easier since they can just criticize shortcomings with some appeals to bigotry in place of solutions.
Oh yeah, htere’s never any discussion, anywhere, ever, or even consideration, of systematically dismantling the GOP in a way that would prevent it from ever taking power again.
