So long as i’m allowed to do what i want i can use coping mechanisms and you’ll barely notice my autism, i’ll just look like a “normal” but eccentric guy with weirdly specific preferences. But if you prevent me from taking care of myself i’ll start behaving stereotypically autisticly, because i’m feeling really fucking uncomfortable.
I think this is a big part of why so many people with autism nowadays seem “normal”, because we’ve been able to figure out how we need to take care of ourselves and our environments largely allow us to do so.
If we started tying people to chairs and tazing them then yeah no fucking shit they’d start screeching and stop being able to talk, what a fucking piece of quantum physics that is to figure out…
