Yeah, just look at those expensive white sneakers. Must be worth a fortune.
I am proud to say I am that man.
Edit: not this specific man just a guy with a wife and daughter who love him
I’m also in that position and it is amazing, my wife and son are more than I could ever have asked for.
can confirm, I too am that guy.
Same. Life is great!
Amen brothers!
Hmmmmm…
I’m not totally convinced it’s not actually a caterpillar person. I mean you never know.
When you’re rich you can buy all kinds of weird shit.
They can still pay for things with many arms and legs, still wealthy.

The issue, as i see it, is you criticized him for your own perception. Objectively, the picture isn’t about a father, brother, Uncle, etc… It’s just some person receiving what appears to be genuine affection from others. You taking it to the extreme of “it makes me feel bad because i think it’s implying i need kids for happiness” is the real issue. That implication is your subjective reality. OP isn’t responsible for that.

Please take this as feedback, as I truly don’t mean any harm. Even if you’re not attacking, your comment comes across as egocentric because there’s many ways to express love, and a picture can hardly represent every way it can be done. The comment comes across as annoyance at the picture because it doesn’t show your perspective of it.
I’m pretty sure this place welcomes bespoke love portrayal because everyone has their own way, and love is love. It’s something to be glad at. It’s wholesome. :)
edit: btw sorry if I misgender or something, this is my first time writing a comment to a person that uses pronouns different from what I was taught in english class when I was a teenager. I’m more used to this kind of things in my native language.

It wouldn’t be a wholesome post without someone in the comments searching for a way to find fault. =(
In this case: literally just a cute picture about someone finding their true happiness with their loving family rather than material wealth.

Sorry that my response was snippy. This is a pet peeve of mine from reddit, and it seems to have carried over to lemmy, where any time someone expresses some form of happiness (especially involving kids/family), someone invariably shows up in the comments to tell them that they dislike it.
This was simply a wholesome post about a guy being hugged by his wife and daughter, saying “wow, that guy must be the richest man in the world”, and your immediate response to it was “Huh, guess I’d rather be poor”.
This same caption could have been placed over a photo of a vet who loves animals, an artist who gets to paint in their dream home studio, or a nature lover looking out into a national park, and if your first thought is to comment under those telling everyone how much you dislike dogs, art, and mountains, it would also be rude.

Forget I said anything actually, I’d rather forget I did this
Seriously don’t sweat it, and please stick around. We’re all human and sometimes put our foot in our mouth, myself included. <3
You dislike that family is important to others?
I see what you mean. How about “one of the richest men in the world”? That leaves room for a single, pleasant man with jet ski leases on every ocean.
I deeply believe that this romantic idea is being pushed onto us so that we don’t complain while the big rich focus on taking over the world.
posts picture of depicting a loving family
Average Lemmy user: “How can you be a happy family when rich people exist? Don’t you know that being a loving relationship and having a happy home life is just propaganda by the bourgeoisie?”
I mean, fuck me. I’ve had my struggles with depression in the past but even I’ve never been this miserable.
There is some interesting theory about how people with kids are less likely to participate in revolutionary or disruptive activities and this is a tool used against groups
That said, was not the time or place, OP 🤦♀️
The big rich want to tear the family apart
My fellow human,
I do not wish to disrespect or discredit your fears and emotions, but I must advise to lay off social media for a while.
Yes yes. Family as important wasn’t carved out of the ether by evolution. It came from the back rooms of the rich as they plotted to distract you from the rat race so that they could win it.
You think that social animals with tight knit family groups posting about the benefits of tight knit family groups is propaganda?
Just wait until you hear about Big Food and how they’ve manipulated you to eat every day. And don’t get me started on Big Air.
By “this romantic idea”, do you mean the “richest man in the world” bit? I think people are responding under the impression that you think the idea of romance itself is propaganda, not the idea that romance is equivalent or superior to monetary wealth. That makes a little more sense; “tell them that love is worth more than gold so we can take all the riches”. Not saying I necessarily agree, but it’s certainly a less bleak outlook.
That would be the gist of it. “Focus on romance lowborns, that’s all you need to be happy”.
Love and family are great and very likely the best part of our lives, but it doesn’t make us any richer.
its always been like this, you just haven’t been paying attention cause it wasn’t as in-your-face until now.
I’d argue that it was in our face before, the powers that be just do a good job of distracting us
