      It’s a pretty deep rabbit hole :D
The mechanicalkeyboards subreddit and the mechkeys discord server are great places to get info on the topic.
And there’s also a community on Lemmy now at mechanicalkeyboards@lemmy.ml

I started with normal mechanical keyboards a few years ago because I wanted something better than the average gamer-rgb stuff.
Then slowly changed to different form factors and layouts, started designing my own boards and ultimately ended up with this.

It’s based on the Sofle v2 split-board which I modified a bit and put in a custom 3D printed case that I designed myself :3
The layout takes some getting used to in the begging but after a while it just feels a lot more natural and is much more comfortable when doing lots of typing than normal staggered keyboard layouts.
I’ve been using it for about two years now and I’m definitely not going back.

yeah main reason is work but also some hobby stuff :|

I mostly work from home and I need a bunch of stupid windows only software for my job.
And I use Fusion360 a lot for my hobby which is also windows only, unfortunately FreeCAD just doesn’t cut it when you want to do actual serious CAD stuff with bigger and more complex models.

Oooh, I love these keyboards. I wish they came in QWERTZ and with numpad/in full size, too.
