Summary

Elon Musk called for the firing of Wall Street Journal reporter Katherine Long after she exposed racist tweets from Marko Elez, a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee who later resigned.

Long’s report revealed Elez had posted remarks promoting racism and eugenics.

“Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool,” Elez posted in July, according to the Journal’s review of archived posts.

Musk, who claims to support free speech, labeled Long “disgusting and cruel” and demanded that she should be fired.

Critics noted the hypocrisy of Musk advocating for a journalist’s removal over accurate reporting on a public official’s misconduct.

Musk is officially part of the government now, so this literally is an attack on free speech

    Not that any conservative cares.

If it isn’t news to you, why are you saying he hasn’t been vetted or doesn’t have security clearance as if that’s relevant?

other people care about the law and are still in the government… you act as if it’s all over.
the laws they’re currently breaking are our best chances of restraining them.

Which other people? What power do you think they have?

And who do you expect to restrain them?

And yes, America is over. It is a fascist dictatorship now. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you will stop expecting this to be fixed by any sort of government or legal opposition which will never come and hopefully actually start working on trying to do something about it yourself. Like taking to the streets when you can.

if it was a fascist dictatorship, we couldn’t take to the streets.
it’s not over, and i’m not placing all of my faith in the government to correct itself either….
taking to the streets is great, but so is stuff like petitioning and writing to political representatives….
when they start shooting protestors, then it will be a fascist dictatorship.
                  this is good: https://pocan.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/pocan-introduce-elon-musk-act-ban-federal-government-contracts-special
there are a lot of people in government still fighting back… including federal employees….
the state department flew it’s flag at half mast….
it can feel like we’re defeated, but we’re not… yet….

Got it, Nazi Germany did not start out as a fascist dictatorship when Hitler was named chancellor.

I think you’ve got a lot of historians to write to and inform them about this.

it can feel like we’re defeated, but we’re not… yet….

I said nothing about defeat. I said the government opposition is not going to help you. They are puppets now.

Because it’s the root of the problem and is important to be repeated constantly.

Congress took an oath to defend the Constitution. Let’s see who cares.

Congress also has specific authority over making laws and allocating money. You’d think they’d have the self-interest to protect that authority from whatever baboon tried to take it, especially an unelected one

My guess is that a lot of people don’t realize or accept that the game is already over and the constitution is as good as shredded. A lot of people think that if only one person would put one in his brain case or vote him (Trump and Elon by extension) out, we could return to normal. The Republic is cooked, we’re right now, as a society, deciding what happens next.

Considering the person I’m talking to thinks that fascist dictatorships start when protesters start getting shot, I think that a lot of people don’t even understand that it’s a possibility, let alone that it’s happening.

So just like the rest of the Trump kakistocracy, then.

With the way the Dems, King, and even Bernie are rolling over and letting them do almost everything they want, they’re not gonna start bothering with vetting now.

I mean, I think it’s specifically more targeted at freedom of the press, and the 1A really only prevents Congress from passing laws to limit free speech or the press. So while I agree with you 100% in principle, I don’t think what Musk is doing is illegal here, he’s just a fucking asshole.
