          Transport from France to Germany is a lot cheaper than from France to USA. But I don’t know why Italian prosecco is so much cheaper. Same issue with bordeaux vs. (say) tuscan.

            Meh. Freixenet is the way to go. But I am on your side with champagne being overpriced. Same shit, fancy name.

              @blackris @barsoap in the UK you can get an ok prosecco for a tenner so that’s what basic beaches drink here (happy to claim that title). My parents enjoy a cava. There is a growing “English Sparkling Wine” market as climate change moves the fizz-friendly region northwards into southern England but that stuff is £££
