        Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe are two separate canons.

          But is it that way intentionally or because of BS licensing reasons? I did a little bit of reading on it and to me it seems like X-Men would absolutely be part of the MCU if not for a complicated web of licensing restrictions

            That’s not what I meant though. Tony Stark is part of the MCU for example, but he never stopped being Iron Man until his death. Meanwhile there are comics where he became an alcoholic and gave Rhodes the Iron Man armor.
            The MCU canon is the movies (beginning with 2008 Iron Man) and the shows. Comic book canon is something else.
            Also, the X-Men are already part of the MCU through Deadpool & Wolverine. Just not that crossover.
