I feel like I’ve read stories of people freaking out falling asleep in their headsets and waking up not knowing what was going on for a little bit

All I will say is those aren’t just isolated stories. Even I’ve been guilty of thinking staying in the headset is genuinely more comfortable than waking up to reality.

not like you need VR for that lmao, if i’ve binged a game for too long i’ll wake up the next morning wondering where my inventory is for a few seconds, before remembering that reality exists

Man, whats the furry % of VRC users? There’s gotta be a ton of folks who identify more with their Fursona at this point.

I’ve seen someone discover that they are trans through it. VR is pretty cool, and VRChat is an incredible platform, especially for free. The level of immersion really depends on the setup and user. Some people really feel phantom touch but I don’t at all, for example.

I wonder if vulcans have a bit of uncanny valley when they have to see the snooty version of fantasy elves

Reminds me of the book Beyond the Veil of Stars. People travel between worlds by putting their minds into alien species, some of which are quite foreign (e.g. a rodent with multiple bodies), and folks get pretty messed up.
