Got a notice in the mail that Texas gas has applied to raise rates yet again. This is in addition to the over $20 in monthly fees they charge you even if you don’t use their product.

It’s amazing to me that an industry insists on raising prices as their product is slowly getting phased out. It’s like they’re encouraging their customers into getting rid of natural gas more quickly.

    You might notice what they’ve been doing is mostly increasing the base customer charge, which you pay to have any service at all. They’re doing this because people’s gas use is cratering, but if you still even have one appliance that runs on gas, you pay this fee. All I need to do is get an induction range, electric heater, and electric water heater…
