Tired and low effort/energy. I got promoted at work, and my brain has been working overtime to learn a bunch of important stuff as fast as possible because we lost two managers in about two months and they need me. So I bust my ass at work getting the hang of my new position, my first job in management of any sort, then come home too excited and full of thoughts to sleep well. So I’m trying to power down for a few days because I might be closing by myself as soon as this weekend. I love my job and management team. My assistant manager is my best friend, someone who genuinely cared about me before either of us got promoted. So today I’m sleepy, but satisfied.

Having a garden party good bye lunch with friends before they fly out.

Had some drama last night with a tinder date, but glad it’s over.

Looking forward to swimming this afternoon on such a hot sunny day.

What is tinder like these days if you don’t mind divulging? I met my wife on Tinder (~2015) and while I’m ever-grateful I’ve heard horror stories from my friends about what it’s become.

Tinder is very active in my area. I have a decent number of matches, and try to start conversations with the matches, of the conversations I try to setup a face to face to face meet pretty quickly.

I’d say most people I meet are normal good people. There are some crazies, some people who are selfish, some people who are impulsive. I can usually get a good assessment of the personality by the end of the face to face.

Given the organization tools of tinder, if match doesn’t turn into a date and move off the tinder chat platform, the conversation gets lost in all the other matches and conversations very quickly. I totally understand why people on tinder “ghost”… too many messages and you just lose people/ conversations.

Overall I’d say tinder is a great tool still, but it relies on your social skills, and self motivation to have a good time.

It’s good to hear some people having a reasonable experience. When I moved to a new city I didn’t know anyone so I used Tinder to go on as many dates as possible and it was honestly nice getting out and meeting people I otherwise wouldn’t have at places I certainly did not know. Some weird stories mixed in but what is life without a few.

Disappointed by world events. But I’m going to a Pathfinder game with friends later on, so I can forget about it for a while.

The beginnings of desperate. I’m being laid off in December, and I haven’t found a job in 2 months. I don’t want to be unemployed.

Hope you’ll get something soon. What field are you in?

IT management. Apparently the way to get roles at my level is “networking”, and I should’ve been doing it for years.

Laid off in June and I loathe this advice - "find an ‘in’ ". I don’t know what it’s like to have an ‘in’ and everyone that says they have something for me dematerializes the moment it’s viable. I wish you all the luck in the world my friend.
