Alt text:
Star wars meme: Mon Mothma (Mastodon) stands before 5 other men/admirals (Writefreely, Lemmy, Peertube, Pixelfed, Friendica). She says: “The emperor has made a critical error and the time for our attack has come.”
From Mastodon post: https://thecanadian.social/@EduMario/110648892924769509
Kudos for that great alt-text
I stole it. I stole every last piece of it. (See original post on mastodon.)
We shall all thank @edumario@thecanadian.social for it. 😇
I don’t think I can use peertube. It’s just not as good and it’s way harder to host video content server wise. I just use a privacy respecting front end for YouTube. Everything else I’m on board with.
Inb4 Google pulls an Elon and starts requiring sign-ins, which will kill Invidious and Piped, along with a lot of their userbase.
I don’t think Google is that stupid. A very significant portion of users never log in, more than Twitter. They’d lose so much ad revenue.
Yeah. I could definitely see them implementing some sort of IP-based rate limiting, though.
well if we’re going to make a dent we’re gonna need some jedis
Anyone have the sauce on what reddit traffic is looking like post July 1?
We have !starwarsmemes@lemmy.world, post it there too! Weird how these last 3 days everyone started posting SW memes everywhere but there
Good god, it’s all beans over there, too! I don’t like beans. They’re sticky and squishy and irritating and they get everywhere.
I actually did when I created the post. (See the list of crossposts.)
But thanks for reminding people and pointing out other interesting comms.
Must be a federation problem, because I don’t see the cross post link, nor the post in the community (I’m a mod) when looking through lemmy.world. Unfortunate. I wonder what would happen if someone reported a post or comment I can’t even see.
Ed: ok it got fixed. I searched for the post url and that refreshed it.
Well, that’s kind of a wild bug there. 🤷
I just edited the crosspost in hope that it would refederate, but I don’t think it worked as expected. Sorry.
I searched for the post url on my instance. One of our actions fixed it, it shows up now.
Not your fault, and thanks.
Awesome! Somehow, I love the quirkiness of federated platforms. Kind of gives it character. 😆
It just stresses me out hah. Last week I needed something from people on 2 other instances and my post wouldn’t show up for them, except for a short window when our server was upgraded. Then everyone was like “I can see your post!” for an hour or so and then poof gone again.
If you’re up to playing, would you try deleting the swmemes post and reposting again? I wanna see what happens and if it works, we’ll at least have a new meme other than fucking beans…
Sure! I just deleted it on my end. Post still seems to be on lemmy.world. I’ll wait a little and see if the deletion gets federated and then repost.
“All Wings Report In!”
- “Mastodon, standing by!”
- “Lemmy, standing by!”
- “Peertube standing by!”
Am I the only nerd here who is bugged that the title is about ESB, but the still and the quote are from RotJ?
Pretty good meme I enjoyed ➿
My unpopular opinion is that YouTube ads are valid. People make creating videos their living, and the ads not only support them, but they also allow them to make better content for you. It’s not the same as a company putting ads in your social media feed where it only benefits a company at your expense.

Basically aaaaaanything that spez or spacekaren are doing? I mean, the whole established social media landscape is burning right now, giving the Fediverse a huge push.
Zuck didn’t get a mention in your report? I’m almost triggered. But you are right
Sorry to not include him. It’s should go without saying that he is always included in our
mockeryhearts.
Let’s all meditate for a minute and chant “fuck spez” in our mind
Oh… I just thought that something more specific happened… Ok!
No worries. Just the usual downfall of digital society. No special occasion. 😅
The US Federal Reserve raised interest rates, which means VCs are investing less, meaning that operating at a loss is becoming less profitable, which is leading to Big Tech’s greed becoming much more obvious.
Who would have thought that dumping money on something just because it is cool, would not be a good idea!
lol SpaceKaren - I agree wholly
