      I think they had some semblance of being ok 100 years ago, which is when that ruling was made

    I was made aware through this video: MIT Economist Explains the NFL’s Legal Cartel

    E: actually per the video I checked out NFL on Wikipedia, and found out they have a partial exemption, which led me to the MLB information.
