He turns around grimacing.
He smiles and starts plinking his piano as Patty arrives. She says,“Playing your toy piano, eh, Schroeder? That’s a nice boy…” “I’ll leave so as not to bother you”
Alone again, he resumes pounding out complex pieces on the piano.

I can’t tell if he’s trying to hide his skills as a pianist or if her compliment made him want to practice harder.
Either way, once again, baby Schroeder is super cute.
I think he was annoyed by her presence
