I’m about to be negative about this so i guess i’ll put it in spoilers in case anyone doesn’t want to be critical

    spoiler

I seriously think live action versions of disney films could potentially ruin the film for anyone who sees it as a youngster.

    • If you watch the live-action first, as many genAlpha kids will be doing, the original will seem dull and not special in comparison - by all accounts the live action one will be the less interesting and more lacking in heart, but someone who sees that one first will think the OG is “just a copy” of the story, and will not be able to dissent from that preconception.

    • Then, if you watch the OG animated Tangled first, your parents might go, “Oh you really liked that, didn’t you! Want to see the new version??” and then it will seem weird and dull because there’s two versions of the same thing.

    • Track record sees LARVs lacking in some key component that made the original film legendary. This has been the case for Mulan, Aladdin and The Lion King

It’s weird that someone in disney might actually think making an animated movie live action could make it better. Of course, we all know this isn’t about making good or original movies anymore. But I think a handful of the bosses or other employees at Disney really believe in doing this stuff.

On a positive note though, that casting is AMAZING. Someone should check up on Disney’s cloning facilities to make sure they’re not breaking the law. I can definitely see why someone would be tempted to live-action-remake something if they found 2 leads that look so much like the animated characters. (more than I can say for the HowToTrainYourDragon L.A.R.V

Didn’t “live action” Lion King make a shit ton of money? I think the numbers speak for themselves. While many of us on Lemmy may agree we want new things, it’s the reason we have a 30th robin hood movie coming out, people like retelling stories. Every year we’ll get a new story about Santa Claus, Vampire, Zombie, etc movie. This is just Disney’s version of it now.

Are these actually real people. Ngl, these “actors” legit look AI, and I’ve never heard of either of them. Have people actually seen them in other media?

Edit: to add, I just fr read their names. Am I crazy, do they literally sound AI Generated?

Teagan Croft I saw from skim-watching a few episodes of “Titans,” a Netflix(?) Adaptation of DC’s teen titans. The fella Manheim has apparently been in a Disney series called Zombies, and a Sabrina Carpenter Music Video.

Actors and parents who aspire to raise lil actors probably go for “AI-sounding names” 😄. Because they like stage names that sound flashy and interesting

The original is my favourite Disney movie. There’s no way I’m gonna even acknowledge this thing exists, unless its imdb score after a year from release is >8.0
