Milei, who has regularly defended Israel’s genocide in Gaza, was also invited to join Trump’s Board of Peace.

Yep, when it comes to right wing libertarians or anarchists, they’re only about mutual aid for other bourgeoisie. Because it all benefits themselves systemically. To them, if you aren’t bourgeoisie, it’s your fault. And they don’t need to do anything to help you.

The bourgeoisie or the poor? I’m unclear which group you’re referring to. Though if it’s the former we are in agreement.

How did that guy ruin the economy…

He executed an enormous wealth transfer from the general public to a handful of political insiders. Those insiders them rigged the election in his favor.

Some people will tell you this “ruined” the Argentinian economy, the folks in the know recognize that the Free Market is operating exactly how it should.

This is true. Tech companies pumping hot air into the Ai bubble are not going to lose a single cent when their investments go up in flames. It’s the American people that will bail them out.

Capitalist “Libertarianism” seems to always go hand in hand with ramp up of Military and surveillance and it’s somehow not in conflict with a “small state” in their eyes. Libertarians also loved military dictator Pinochet.

It’s because they’re privileged people who only notice government when it inconveniences them. Liberty for them means “I can do whatever I want and I am under no obligations to my country or anyone else.” Underneath the rhetoric, the motives are the same as for “small government” conservatives. They care only about what directly inconveniences them, not about principles or other people. Small government or freedom from government just means “don’t ask anything of me.”

Libertarians just want smaller government of other parties, they want absolute control. Just like Musk is a “free speech absolutist”

Argentina has been ramping up surveillance for year, not after Trump’s bailout. Before the pandemic, in 2019, the local government in Juju, a province in the country’s north, was proud to say thatJ ujuy can be “safe like China” after they installed China’s ZTE:

Jujuy already has close ties to China. A Chinese company is heavily invested in lithium mining in the province and China has provided the financing and technology for a huge solar farm, South America’s largest.

So Trump comes as an addition also to South America, but he is not the only elephant in the room.

I thought Millei’s picture was a woman, he looks rather like an aging woman in her 50’s or 60’s. Just a random observation about Argentina’s want to be strongman, dictator, fascist.

That is what gets me which is why I mention it, I always knew fascists were going to try and seize control in our lifetimes, since high school I realized that. I didn’t know the bad guys would be so fucking stupid, and weak. Really I envisioned evil geniuses, not the US president and this asshole and Nigel Farage.
