because his party got elected as a repudiation of tory rule and he governed to the right of the tories.
In one focus group before the election, someone said: ‘At least Tony Benn gave his title up.’ It’s like they saw Keir’s knighthood as hereditary.
Benn also gave his title up because it actively barred him from being an MP.
The general public, man.
What is it with British Prime ministers?
It seems like the last 10 years or so have been a ridiculous amount of terrible prime ministers wrapped up in incompetence and scandal. Has it always been that way? I only remember about ten years worth.
Is it because of the cruel, corrupt, stupid, and destructive things he and his party do, by any chance? The fact he only got where he is by lying to people? The way he doesn’t seem to believe in anything other than himself being Prime Minister?
The fact his party is useless at getting the word out when it does do good things, so most people have no idea? Or the way we’re hurtling towards fascism because of him, because he’s squandering his massive majority and continuing to wank off his rich mates at the expense of everyone else (while scapegoating asylum seekers, disabled people, and trans people)?
Or some other reason?! I can’t wait to read this important analysis and find out! 😍
