  • Have I let you down your ability to say mostly whatever you want on this instance

I’m probably a bit biased so maybe not who you’re looking for a response from but IMHO I don’t feel let down in the slightest.

I’m not really interested in dropping racial slurs and such… Happy to leave that kind of thing for poal. I probably wouldn’t even be as vocal against lgbt if it wasn’t for all the leftist propaganda related to that stuff (shoving it in people’s faces, kids education, etc). On the whole, I’d rather have more people fighting the good fight against woke bs. I don’t mind Dave Rubin too much. Same for anyone that wants to keep their private life private.

what can I do to improve?

Happy as things stand. But I guess maybe I’d ask that you reel me back from the edge if I ever get to the point where I’m saying/ shitposting something out of line (either in your guys eyes or that I myself would likely regret the next day).

Other than that, I’m happy EH exists and isn’t Yet Another Authoritarian Leftist Lemmy Instance (bc those seem to be a dime a dozen these days).

  • If only there were a built-in feature that users who don’t want to see another user’s content could click on that hid that content from them…

But yes, let’s suggest to them that they specifically are responsible for slowing down an entire network by their manual posts and should not post anymore instead, bc silencing them even a little bit is so much better.

  • Why is using a different word to refer to someone such a problem?

Depends. Do I get to pick which words I refer to them by? If so, then no, I’m all for it.

But if I have to call a eunuch with an extra hole a “she”, then yes; that’s debasing to actual females and it’s feeding a delusion.

And if I am required to call them something that I personally disagree with in order to avoid fines or HR issues then that’s even worse as it infringes on my own freedoms.

People don’t lose their minds when someone gets a non-gender related name change, like when a woman gets married and takes a new last name.

And non-gender name changes are generally restricted to just that - there’s no political agenda bullshit behind it. If “Harry Johnson” wants to change his name to “Paul Smith”, generally for most normal people it’s not about forcing others to acknowledge something but to not have a shitty name that responsible parents would have avoided (looking at you Elon), to change identities for witness protection or similar, or to cut ties with an old life / estranged family. Or in the case of a marriage, to acknowledge tying oneself to another primary family unit.

Even the more reasonable pronoun (meaning feminine/masculine/neuter) stuff still implicitly tacks on acceptance of their politics and there is the authoritarian aspect of forcing people. I’m pretty sure if I wanted to be an asshole and refer to someone with a non-gender related name change by the old name, that the worst that is going to happen is I would annoy that person. I’m never going to have my livelihood threatened or be fined over such a thing.

And that’s assuming we restrict to reasonable pronouns and don’t allow people to make up whatever fucking bullshit they want.

You might not think that little language details like this matter but then if that’s the case you probably haven’t spent much time considering all the effort that needs to go into little stupid minutia changes like this. I remember when BLM was in full swing and people were bitching about the usage of terms like “whitelist” / “blacklist” too (despite the origin of these having absolutely nothing to do with skin color) and how much manpower it took for people who had to update legal verbiage, text on websites, and source code repositories (the latter also requiring rebuilding and retesting code, not to mention just fielding tickets for the requests… and this for literally thousands of projects, most of them by unpaid hobbyists).

The people pushing this nonsense need to pull their heads out of their collective asses and stop expecting society to pivot on a dime and cater to them. Getting rid of bullying has created a generation that can’t handle criticism and expect everyone to treat them like someone special instead of someone “special”.

At least 42% of these nutcases fix the problem themselves but that doesn’t take care of all the rabid sjw mongoloids chomping at the bit.

And the pushing it on kids part is vastly over-exaggerated, best I can see, barring the occasional nutjob.

It is literally being taught in some grade schools as part of the curriculum. Kids don’t need to think some nutjob lopping off his dick is normal behavior. They shouldn’t even fucking know about that shit at that age.

Trans stuff shouldn’t be taught at school for any age.

Them existing is fine and if they want to mutilate their own bodies, that’s their call. But stop trying to normalize their behavior to society. It’s just disgusting. If there are kids thinking about that, they should be taken to counseling to help overcome their depression / autism / etc. If they can’t be helped and are resolute, then they can eliminate themselves from the breeding pool after they reach adulthood and have had a few years to let the consequences of a major permanent surgery sink in.

  • Why do you give a shit what people choose to do with their own body?

If they did it in a vacuum or a deserted island and I didn’t have to know or care, then I wouldn’t give a shit.

If I literally didn’t have to refer to them differently (like for instances, somebody decided to chop off their dick and become a eunuch), and there was no misguided initiative to spread the idiocy to children, or to make women compete against eunuchs, I wouldn’t give a shit.

If there weren’t shit human beings that are so delusional that they think being a eunuch with a “bonus hole” and some hormones makes them a woman and therefore they can misrepresent themselves as one, I wouldn’t give a shit.

  • If you’re so worried about it, all the tools you need to block content from offending subs or users is already built in. I give zero fucks what you or anyone else thinks about me so I’m not going to be offended in the slightest if you block me.

TBH, it is a mystery why people don’t block content they dislike and then sit there and bitch about it. It’s a bit like someone stepping out into the rain, completely ignoring their own umbrella, and then bitching about getting wet.

“Oh noes. Conservatives bad. Let’s call them names. We needs to defed them asap. Quick, order more soy before we run out”

  • There’s still a few good competitive reality shows. My favorites these days are Forged in Fire and Tough as Nails…

although haven’t been watching as much FiF lately and TaN unfortunately seems to be embracing the lgbt bullshit (IIRC there were two lesbos in last season… wasn’t a strong emphasis on it, but still irritates me that they have them on a family show). Love the show otherwise but if they add any trans, then I’m done with it… although considering their target audience, hopefully they’ll learn from budweiser’s stupidity and not go that far.

I could tolerate the “lgb” (but not “t”) folks as long as they keep 'em away from kiddos and quit trying to plaster them all over everything like they make up 50% of the population instead of the less than 8% that they actually do. Trans stuff tho… bad enough people mutilate themselves like that for attention and then suicide for even more. No need to glorify or even normalize that mental illness to kids

  • I’m guessing for anything detailed that it would be different for each manufacturer, and probably even different for various models or years (bc parts contractors for electronics might change, wiring could be different etc)

    generically:

    1. Never ever pair your phone’s bluetooth with your car unless you are a techie and know how to isolate shit OR you don’t have anything to track on the connected device (e.g. like maybe a 2nd old phone that you bought secondhand with cash and a fake name and you only use to play untraceable audiobooks/podcasts off)
    2. Probably would need to look into your car’s OnStar or whatever GPS system they bundle in these days, then research how to disable that. If you’re lucky maybe you could disable it by finding the corresponding fuse and leaving that one disconnected… but somehow I think it would not be that easy.
    3. Not sure what they mean by “biometric” data about you… If it’s fingerprint, you might be able to defeat that with electrical/duct tape or a steering wheel cover but it really depends on if they force you to register to use the car or some shit. Really that kinda goes for other forms of biometric data like voice / retinal too… you’re pretty much at the mercy of how much of an asshole they are about it. e.g. Don’t buy shit that forces you to use it and then you can at least choose not to.

Even then… I doubt there’s a way to kill any tracking data about your driving that gets stored on the car without knowing a good deal about electronics.

But really the best way is like others have said: get an older car (or find one that you can confirm doesn’t do this shit and get that)

  • Well, I do kinda hate troons. But aside from the name, does someone who actually takes the effort to make a first post asking what the rules are really strike you as someone who makes trouble? As for the name, partly it’s true, partly I figured it was a good test to see how uptight this instance was, and partly so that any troons would be more inclined to block me than to bother me.

If I do hate troons, it’s mostly only the annoying individuals who like to force their beliefs onto me and then get all pissy when I have a different opinion that doesn’t celebrate them. TBH, if they want to mutilate their own bodies, I don’t really care. I don’t feel the need to tell them what to do or cause trouble in their communities

As far as the free speech comment before, I’m just annoyed by having to use double speak for the hivemind and pretend like that shit’s normal. I know teh screenname was prolly pushing it a bit but I’m actually not all that interested in dropping slurs left and right like a 12yo. Anyway, as far as comments and whatnot I can be civil about it, which if I’m not mistaken, is all the rules are saying, right?.. FWIW, if I do run into someone that I absolutely don’t think I can play nice with, I’m more inclined to block them than to bother hurling insults at them personally. Just tired of places where merely having an opinion that doesn’t celebrate rainbows makes people treat you like some kind of non-human evil anti-christ so you have to act fake.

And if this comes across as me being disrespectful or snarky, that wasn’t my intent. Actually, it’s fine if you don’t like me but skimming through your history, I think that I would get along with you quite well on a few topics. Hell, the fact that you called them “beecuck” already makes me think well of you lol.

  • Ah thanks.

I assumed sidebar was going to only be for community rules, so had been looking for it on the site header and footer areas… but you’re right; when I go to top level of site, I see them there as well. appreciate it

Anyway, I think I can handle that. I mostly just want to be genuine to myself and not bow down to the “pride month” crowd (and I don’t mean disrepect / fight with them - I just mean not putting them on a pedestal and having to cater to those special snowflakes that believe anyone who doesn’t bend over backwards to support them is [insert label here]). If I can simply ignore them and have my own opinion that doesn’t worship the rainbow / use more than 2 pronouns, then I’m golden and can be civil otherwise.
