For me, though pretty basic, it would be Harry Styles - Daylight

Though it probably is because, and I have no shame in saying this, I have a crush on Harry Styles

I rewrote the lyrics of The Internationale into a progressive liberal anthem and have listened to nothing else all afternoon while editing it as subtitles over a Chinese performance of the song.

idk if it lands or not. But I might have ruined my favourite song for a while.

    So liberals, come rally

    For the discourse never ends,

    The Western Liberal Internet

    Will cancel all your friends!

    Global comrades, come listen

And we’ll tell you why you’re wrong,

    The Western Leftist Internet

    Is voting very strong

One of the things you often hear liberals accuse ‘tankies’ of is being TERFs and/or transphobic or homophobic… even though communities like this one have a large amount of LGBTQ+ representation. So I put it in there because it’s something that really shows how they don’t actually know us at all and just make up whatever fits their model for a villain.

Oh ok thank you. I didn’t get it this way but rather “libs want us to all be gay”. Glad I was wrong

“My Skin Is Not My Own” from the children of dune miniseries soundtrack. It’s a neat song, albeit kind of short.

Inama Nushif (especially considered the scene where it plays) and Jihad are great too.

Latest Dune movie immensely disappointed me with its uninspired generic soundtrack* compared to what is probably the greatest sounded franchise ever consistently though most of movies and games. Prophecy theme from Lynch Dune and entire soundtrack from Dune 1 game are still among my all time favourites. Even the westwood games from Dune 2 up to Emperor had some good music.

*Atreides theme was decent and Sardaukar chant is banger, but that’s it, rest is subpar and take much from the otherwise good movie.

Coolio Gangsta’s Paradise. I’m addicted to it. It is mostly because of the edits. I’ve watched all the communist related ones many times.

I don’t have a favorite song but mostly listen to gabber or deathcore but my bestie turned my on to Kim Dracula and I let Spotify take me down this wierd rabbit hole of trapcore and hyper-punk/rock/etc. It’s wired and vibes. It’s angry mixed with pretty. And honestly I’m here for it.

Favorite bands are Anti-Flag and La Dispute so it’s a complete left turn for me in that regard. Also my music tastes are all over the place.

I don’t really have a favorite song either, I just mentioned a good song from my favorite band SOAD. I like Kim Dracula. I was disappointed that they only had a couple of singles when I found it, but now that you’ve reminded me they exist I found their new album. If you like nu-metal type stuff I suggest SOAD and limp bizkit. If you like political punk, in my opinion Anti-flag’s not the best, but I’d suggest the Suicide Machines, against me, propaghandi, and Distructo Disk.

Is SOAD System of Down? I went through a small phase with their first few albums. There’s a Japanese nu-metal band called Maximum the Hormone that reminds me a lot of them.

I’m always in the hunt for political punk so I’ll give those you mentioned a listen.

I was only aware of KD because my friend was actually hyping their album dropping so it’s fresh lol.

Never been a big Limp Bizkit fan but what’s funny is that Break Stuff has been sampled into a ton of the electronic music I listen to and it’s good. I was definitely a teenager during the original nu-metal era though so maybe it’s just nostalgia?

Yea, System of a Down. I’ll check out MtH. Even though I wasn’t alive when much of it came out, I like listening to a lot of nu-metal. Some more bands I’d recommend (various political metal) are: Earth Crisis, (hed) p.e. (Lefty 9/11 truthers, some decent stuff, but some of it is just slurs. Their self-titled album is the best), soulfly, The exploited, pennywise, one day as a lion, prophets of rage, Sankara, grandson…

Back when nu-metal was really big, I swear I was the only one that liked Coal Chamber. Throw that one in your list if you haven’t you haven’t listened heard of them.

I’ll check out those last few since I don’t think I’ve heard of them.

When it comes to Hard Rock/Metal I always liked Motörhead, they had a lot of sus Fascist and WW1 Imperial German imagery but they had great songs
