It wasn’t, nor is it now, being hidden. Some reporters are more interested in her black heritage and others in her Indian heritage, and the overall context of the piece also factors into that. But by and large, “left” leaning outlets haven’t paid a whole ton of attention to her race as it doesn’t fucking matter. However, Republicans sure as shit have been very vocal about hee “blackness” and are now all “omg, but she’s Indian heritage, too, and we haven’t even dug into that.
