Republicans hate it when Democrats use the same tactics they do.

But this is what they wanted. They wanted to fight dirty, well, they’ve got it. They wanted a government that played favorites and picked winners and losers.

Kiss reasonable democracy that doesn’t play favorites goodbye, this is what you asked for, Republicans.

It always boils down to “rules for thee, not for me.”

You act like the left has the upper hand or something. We’ll get a few blips in, but overall we’re gonna be fucked. The right owns all branches of government and the courts.

Tesla was one of the very few federal options, too. I still want an EV and Cali might be my only shot at affording one (but honestly I’d prefer seeing renters assistance as a higher priority to fight homelessness first, though. Too bad that’s not popular with neolibs)

It’d be coming from the cap and trade sustainability fund, so it couldn’t be used for housing, unless you could show that housing would reduce emissions. Still a lot better ways to spend the money, solar and wind, grid scale battery capacity, mass transit and high speed rail investment etc.

Why? I read the article and I’m not exactly sure what these proposed rebates are for or what qualifies a car or person to be eligible for them.

I didn’t even see in the article anything that said Tesla would be excluded, other than a non-quote of maybe. Maybe I’m just missing something obvious.

“The governor’s proposal for ZEV rebates, and any potential market cap, is subject to negotiation with the legislature. Any potential market cap would be intended to foster market competition, innovation and to support new market entrants,” his office said.

Because they don’t want to support the EV monopoly Musk is angling for.

Anyone laughing at Elon Musk, now that he bought his way into the upper echelons of the United States Government about about to do some real damage to the wellbeing of hundreds of millions of American citizens, really hasn’t been paying attention or their sense of humor is one that I don’t understand

      really hasn’t been paying attention

people have been paying attention, unfortunately unless you are really good sharpshooter willing to take really big risk, there is not much you can do and people cope however they can.
