The comments on that article are horrible, and I agree with you about the hypocrisy.
But honestly I don’t think posting random trans guys and being like “do you want this man in the bathroom with your daughter???” is very useful or positive. For one thing, it reinforces the idea that masculine people cannot be trusted around young girls. This idea causes just as much grief for cis men and masc lesbians as it does trans people. Also, the people writing bathroom ban laws do not know or care about trans men. They just want all of the f-slurs to disappear.
I think it’s actually very useful. This exact picture of Buck Angel got my wife’s grandmother to shut up about trans people in bathrooms.
The people that adopt this viewpoint because they just hate trans people won’t be affected, your average boomer grandma, very quickly realizes how silly her viewpoint is when confronted with this contradiction.
