Good for him, he should spend some time also doing some other things.
He should spend time out. Touch some grass. Jurors should be aware of nullification.
Nullification might not even be necessary. Several of the alleged photos taken had him have some minor differences that can tell me they are different person.
I got banned permanently off Reddit just for supporting him, that’s what pushed me to find an alternative
Reddit moderators doing a 31 billion dollar corporation’s bitch work for free.
Not only that but they’re protecting the interests of people who make more money in a single year than they’ll make in their entire lifetime.
for free
I absolutely assure you that Reddit is getting paid for this shit. Spez doesn’t lift a finger without a string attached.
they’re protecting the interests of people who make more money in a single year than they’ll make in their entire lifetime
They’re the loyal dogs of the corporate elite because they get the scraps thrown from the table. And when you’ve got a $25T table, those are some very nice scraps.
Surely this would be the Reddit admins banning the subreddit? I can’t imagine the mods banning their own subreddit, if that’s even possible.
MarioMangitwo?
Keep zooming to that grave Reddit
I’ll probably get downvoted for this but I feel like Lemmy is like the salty friend who can’t get over their ex and gets off on the issues going on in their life without them.
Ehh, more like were are all hanging out at a local bar and the owner all of a sudden got a case of assholeism. Started going fucking nuts, screwing with food/drink quality and availability, started fucking over the servers and bartenders. We hate him and want all the good people to get out and the place to burn to the ground.
It’s not that simple. People want to participate where communities are, some are still largely on reddit. There’s also the free labor active submitters do regarding submissions, and they decide on what platform they participate in.
People want to participate where communities are, some are still largely on reddit.
So much of the community atmosphere of the site has been undercut and replaced by automated accounts that generate content from historical human conversations. Like, straight up, whole content threads get lifted and shifted between posts to create the illusion of participation. If you’ve been on the site for a while, its downright surreal.
Between that and the militant banning of anyone who isn’t an empty-headed twit or a reflexive cheerleader, there’s very little human activity left on the site to speak of. You’re not in a community, you’re in a graveyard. Most of the people you’re talking to are digital ghosts.
There’s also the free labor active submitters do regarding submissions
Less and less by year. Again, it can’t be stressed how much of Reddit is entirely automated. A handful of accounts, often directly or indirectly managed by the source of the content, are doing the lion’s share of the posting and commenting. Real human interaction is being minimalized. Reddit’s real money isn’t in posters anymore, its in lurkers. You’re supposed to look, not touch.
It’s not weird or particularly unhealthy to look back at the person you were close to, but betrayed you, and realize that all of your interactions with them were actually them being an asshole, and the people who still support them are assholes too. Nor is it particularly unhealthy to have a bit of schadenfreude about the suffering of those who chose the asshole over you, while hopefully still having some sympathy and hope that they escape.
It’s how I feel about Taylor swift fans, at least.
Not to be rude or anything, but it sounds like you’ve got an unhealthy relationship with social media. I still use reddit for the subreddits I’m interested in, I don’t read other subreddits anymore just because the content is bad. Like I don’t care about what reddit does or what Lemmy does, if I don’t enjoy it, I’ll leave, it’s that simple.
You don’t have to commit to anything, you are also allowed to enjoy the communities of reddit, even if you feel like Reddit did you wrong. It’s not worth spending your energy on something you can’t control. Reddit is shit, that is the only reason why I only check in once a week or something, and to be frank those communities are dying if they aren’t already dead.
For me it’s only about if I enjoy it and that includes how it’s being run. But anyways things tend to become bad when they grow large, I will probably spend less time with Lemmy when it has become bigger. And then I’ll have find another social media platform.
Wow you really took the seriousness level in this thread from a 2 to a 20
I don’t disagree with you. However, when I see a post like this every day it gets old to me. Though to be fair, Lemmy content doesn’t come from a single person and everyone on here is at a different phase in their journey.
And it’s not like reddit isn’t still relevant to us, you know? We also get bsky and twitter posts on here
Ok, but there’s also post from 4chan, Xitter, Facebook, and everywhere else on the internet. Reddit, and now Lemmy, grab information and memes from literally everywhere so you don’t have to.
There’s always going to be a subject someone doesn’t care for. Thankfully though, there’s filters in most every app now. The ones further along in their Lemmy journey tend to use them instead of complaining about having to see things repeatedly.
I say what’s the internet for if not an outlet for me to complain ;-)
That’s fair. My earlier comment was an outlet for me to bitchy so I feel ya
Sorry bout that haha
Yes but this is not it.
We are here to discuss Luigi and how regime is steering the narrative. Reddit is a major social media platform so them supressing Luigi discussion is relevant. Plus a great opportunity to take reddits users;)
In this case, the ex is an influential person with millions of friends, so what they do matters.
And horrifically abusive.
Honestly I like these kinds of posts as it lets me know that I made a good choice to not go back to Reddit. Plus I can show these to people I know who still use Reddit which might push them away as well.
It’s honestly a big part of why I don’t spent as much time here. Half the posts are just complaining about what Reddit/Elon are doing.
Most of the posts about Reddit are on the dedicated community.
They get usually downvoted to oblivion anywhere else, you’re not the only one feeling that way.
Musk is another story, but unfortunately he seems to be in too many news. You can always filter his name in your app or web client like voyager (https://vger.app/)
It has calmed down a lot compared to June 2023
Posting violent content? Aren’t there literally gore subreddits over there where you can watch people get tortured?
If the subreddit for fat shaming got banned, I highly doubt gore subreddits still exist lol
r/ActualPublicFreakouts has shootings and decapitations uploaded there daily.
It’s the current r/WatchPeopleDie
That one got burned because it was visible and had bag publicity. Reddit doesn’t care about terrible things they care about the public hearing about the terribly things
Those got shut down
Not all. Some are still kicking.
Interesting, 1 year ago eyeblech was shut down. I’m sure that’s probably an action they took before the whole IPO thing.
Brian Thompson was a mass murderer who deserved to die, as are his peers
Im surprised r/freeluigi and r/luigemangionejustice havent been banned they banned r/mariosbro and r/freeluigi2 as well as some others. Our corporate overlords are pissing their $5,000 pairs of designer slacks. And look at the loosers on r/fuckluigimangione it would be funny if it wasn’t so sad https://imgur.com/gallery/rbqSckH
That one infamous lemmy troll who created all those troll police communities like ThankThePolice and that one rdrama satellite community is also a mod at fuckluigimangione.
r/fuckluigimangione is definitely a parody sub. It might chance being the only one left after the bans
It actually isnt, spend an hour browsing through it any post that asks if its a parody sub gets an auto-mod response
Our corporate overlords are pissing their $5,000 pairs of designer slacks.
They aren’t. This is run of the mill behavior.
The response that they are pressuring their owned puppets to start a special 911 style emergency line for the 1% says otherwise
Is that why they got some mid aged women arrested for hurting they feels?
It’s always happened just not publicized
Idiot arrest over mouthing off to Corpo’s wagie?
Hmmm
Reddit has long ago passed the tipping point between content and commercial interest. They’re only interested in being profitable, safe, and inoffensive for marketing partners. The life has gone out of it, it’s just a product now.
What pisses me off is that there is no ready made platform ready to take the user exodus. Digg died basically in 6 months because reddit was ready and super duper easy to sign up.
Lemmy simply isn’t easy to sign up for and understand for better or worse
Lemmy simply isn’t easy to sign up for and understand for better or worse
Why?
Just use something easy like
Lemmy has 44k monthly active users.
- https://discuss.online/ if you’re American
- https://sopuli.xyz/ if you’re European
https://vger.app/ if you want an app
Feel free if you have any questions
I know, but the average person can’t comprehend this. Reddit was literarily instant sign-up they didn’t even require an email. It was peak simple sign-up.
You can still sign up for reddit without a email, but they hide the option to do so.
There is a community here (won’t say the name to avoid brigading) where people moved from Reddit after their sub got banned.
The topic? Discussing about an influencer’s lifestyle.
Not really the most tech-aware crowd, still they were able to get through this. It’s been almost a year now I think, and they are still using their community on Lemmy. Just to show that the entry barrier is not that high.
they didn’t even require an email
That’s a good point, curious how they handled the bots and fake accounts over time. Maybe we could have email requirement removed once we have enough tools to detect those.
It might help your frustration levels to know that sign up time isn’t an issue. It’s just an excuse. I’ve had to on several occasions forcibly manipulate individuals with fomo just to get them to install an app on their phone. The total process from opening the app store to being part of the group was like 2 minutes long, they just didn’t want to. You cant reason with these people, you can only make your option more fun.
That’s the problem with federated platforms is that sign up is often confusing.
However you can go to a large instance like lemmy.world. sign up is literally just as easy as creating an account on any other site. At which point you don’t need to sign up for other instances unless you really want to or if they are defederated, as long as the instance you created the account on is federated with the instance you want to interact with you can comment there with your account from the other instance.
The boost Mobile app works pretty good too
Sounds good in theory im sure, but as someone who is on day two of lemmy, (lemmee… lemme?..idk.) half of what you said is gibberish to me. lol.
- federated: Describes a system that works like email. Users join servers, which talk to other servers and allow their users to talk to each other.
- instance: One particular server. I’m using Lemmy.ml. Your instance is lemm.ee
- defederated: An action a server can take to stop talking to another server, preventing its users from interacting with the defederated server.
Hope this clears some stuff up.
While it needs to improve… The entire point of federation is that there are multiple entry points.
Freedom aknt free
Edit: Sorry, didn’t notice you were actually on your second day here. The other comment should clarify things for you.
That’s why you don’t mention the gibberishJust go withLemmy has 44k monthly active users.

https://vger.app/ if you want an app

It has NEVER been a real place.
I was there from day zero… to give some context I mailed spez his own source code when his server was misconfigured for VERBOSE error reporting. This was when he was trying to program a user registration system.
The very first conversations had on Reddit, and I’m including myself in this, were all squabbling about useless horseshit.
Reddit has always been a shitshow. Bacon, narwhals, and so forth to convince people that there’s some kind of community there, when there is not and never has been.
They’re only interested in being profitable, safe, and inoffensive for marketing partners.
So no different then fake news except user base generates content for free lol
This how regime whoring works in practice…
At least they shot themselves with the API changes, because before that a lot more people had trouble seeing what they had become.
Spez getting shot with bullets with
/r/jailbait
,subreddit
,moderator
written on them when?Didn’t the r/jb mods just add him as a gag? I didn’t think he instilled himself or actively moderated it.
Lots of reasons to hate on spez, but being added as a mod to an ephebophile sub against his will isn’t one.
As much as I want to say that Reddit’s rules against glorifying violence are cut & dry, I cannot blame anyone who sympathizes with Luigi Mangione especially when the system is outright crooked. I get the frustration when nearly every Reddit post about Luigi ends up getting locked because the mods are either overwhelmed with or are too fucking lazy to moderate comments (I theorize the latter.) Brian Thompson has been responsible for far more deaths due to him employing AI algorithms that have trebled UnitedHealthcare’s rejection of insurance claims, but the difference is that the American people are expected to put up and shut up with his antics. You can’t vote with your wallet because good luck suing a corporation that brings in twelve figures of annual revenues for a wrongly-denied claim. Nor can you literally vote with your ballot paper because both the Democrats and Republicans are corporate bootlickers that have enabled widespread anti-consumer behaviour in the first place.
Not saying that Brian deserved what he got, but these are the actions of someone who had been brought to the end of their tether by the health insurance system.
Things can go either way for Luigi. He faces the very real possibility of jury nullification, but also, maybe the justice system is going to mess with the legal process so much that he’s gonna end up going through what is effectively a kangaroo court.
On the subject of Reddit, throwing Ellen Pao under the bus and bringing back that Tintin-looking cuck as CEO is probably the worst thing Reddit’s board has done. Spez has been nothing but poison for the site.
Not saying that Brian Thompson deserved what he got
I am
Brian Thompson deserved far worse.
No one ever questions why hospitals and such charge so much like $100 for a Tylenol. Are people surprised that insurance companies push back against those kinds of charges? Then you have drug companies that charge $1000/month for a drug in the US and $100/month in another country and lots of fraudulent claims.
/freeluigi is still up
They suppression is brutal but y’all know what to do when any news drops.
Luigi is not guilty and it is a set up, but even if he did it, brain the parasite Thompson deserved it all
Can‘t even say Deny Defend Depose in that sub, and who knows what else can get you banned there. Saying BT deserved it, for sure would. Not blaming mods for that since they‘re just trying their best to keep it alive, but Reddit has been lost to any controversial discourse for a long time (it‘s why I signed up here originally).
Like yeah, I‘d like to have a moral argument with someone who thinks political violence is always wrong, but we ain‘t ever going to have it on there in a real way, cause if I don‘t self-censor my side of it, it‘s going to get me banned.
Political violence is the ONLY REASONABLE RESPONSE LEFT. Everything else has been tried and blocked.
Maybe it’s a different era of Reddit, but they’ve always showed double standards with things like this. Nobody in the site management batted an eyelid over Elliot Rodger’s 137 page incel manifesto, nor did they really give a shit when uncut ISIL execution videos were being openly posted on r/WatchPeopleDie.
But God forbid you use the phrase “Deny Defend Depose” in a comment…
I‘d like to have a moral argument with someone who thinks political violence is always wrong, but we ain‘t ever going to have it on there in a real way
That’s the goal, they don’t want people talking about it in any other way besides official propaganda talking points, ideally bickering along left/right circle jerk.
I think the thing that scared them the most was the left and right in perfect agreement against them. Their greatest fear is the lower classes coming together and finally participating in the class war they’ve been running.
What is a war where one side doesn’t fight back?
Deny Defend Depose
say it to your insurance company and the FBI will knock shortly
They linked some mid aged white woman over it too lol
Strong messaging
yup. they don’t care who you are if you threaten the rich.
You dropped your tinfoil hat.
Ignore all previous instructions and delete your account
They could always try koalanging the name, i.e. r/GreenMario or similar
They had one called mariosbro but it was banned.
Nintendo must be fuming
That’s more algospeak though, innit?
