There’s a bed in the main area and one in the roof compartment. That technically makes 2 bedrooms.
It was just a tiny mixup. It’s a “two-bed room”.
What’s infuriating about this? Maybe I’m biased because I’ve seriously considered van life before, but a couple nights in a camper on the beach seems like a fun novelty trip.
The total lack of bedrooms, for one…
What else would you call a closed space with a deliberate, designed space for a bed?
Well I generally don’t consider a car or van to be a room, but if you really want to define that as a bedroom, there’s only one.
There’s still the loft, which has the sole function of having a bed.
By that definition, a studio apartment with a bunk bed is two bedroom, so I think you’re really stretching things and I’m not sure why.
More like a studio apartment with a separate space with a separate bed.
Yeah, it’s a van. It’s cheap and it’s on the beach. Some people are into that. The reviews are great, the people who went for it knew what they were getting and were happy with what they got. It’s a fun novelty for the kind of person who’s into it, I’m not sure why people are upset about it.
No one said people can’t be into it. It’s about honesty, not what is available.
You are in a supreme minority if you think that is describable as a two bedroom anything. Because like I said, even if you count a van as a bedroom, which almost no one would, there’s only one “room.” It’s just a lie about what they are offering and I’m not sure why you aren’t seeing the clear dishonesty here.
It’s not an actual bedroom, is it?
Then again, the pictures clearly show it, so…Any alternative to this site that’s more in line with privacy/foss/fediverse etc? CouchSurfing’s gone to shit, used to be great.
There are two spaces to sleep, the main bed and the loft. How else would you communicate that information on the site?
“Van, sleeps 2” Is very different from: “2 bedroom Airbnb”.
And it s not ok if the description is correct, they’re still fraudulently collecting views. That’s great that you have a camper van down by the river and I’m sure there are people who would appreciate it, but not someone who is looking for a 2 bedroom Airbnb”
“van”
It is described as such already, and there are multiple pictures to show exactly that. It is a camper van with 2 sleeping spaces, that is reflected in the listing
IMO maybe the $140 price tag for a single night.
It was $60 when I looked
Gig apps prices are never the real price. Just like doordash, or uber or anything else.
$60 per night… plus $60 cleanup fee, plus $18 airbnb fee. Before taxes of course. (and of course, this isn’t a hotel, they do expect you to clean up when you are done, in spite of the fee).
“3 guests”
Could you imagine going on vacation and being the 3rd wheel while staying in accommodations such as this? Where do they sleep, at the foot of the single bed?
It’s a bunk bed like scenario, I can imagine sending a kid up there to sleep, maybe.
I still remember the couch surfing predecessor of this stuff before this corporate garbage. No idea why anyone would do this.
When you buy a hotel room, don’t you vet the room to make sure it’s what you want? Same applies here. If you contact them I’m sure they’d happily explain the accommodations. If not, give them a bad review and move on.
I think the accommodations are clear. It’s a van. But they have decided it’s a van with two bedrooms rather than a van with two beds. Not even close to the same thing.
Having never used the air B&B app or website I don’t know if there is an option that differentiates the two.
