Heading to Flaming Lips tonight, should be fun. I’m guessing they haven’t installed aircon at festival hall…?

Edit. Feels like there’s fans, but it’s still really quite hot.

Edit. There seems to be no fans. I was mistaken.

Edit. My god, I’m drenched already.

I bought a portable air con from Appliances Online. Rare delivery fail - didn’t get notified until the guys actually rocked up to deliver. First time this has happened to me.

Mega dramas hooking it up to the outside to vent (we all gotta vent from time to time). At the moment it’s held in place by repurposed cardboard and the magic of duct tape, which will do until it rains. If it continues to do well over the next few days, then will invest in a proper window fitment.

Unit works well - has shrunk the temp in my bedroom from 30 plus to 23 over 1 hour. Methinks this was money well spent.

Will be keeping an eye on the power bill, but my last one was $45, so I think I can splurge a bit on personal comfort.

Definitely worth shelling out to not boil in this horrid heat. You’d have spent so many decades the “hard way” with wet towels and ice cubes and what not. I’d only experienced that in my childhood overseas and that was enough for me.

Out for a walk and brunch before the weather gets too hot. Now home for washing and relaxing.

Love this space on the internet and glad for all those who are or were part of it.

Gutters done. Always like doing them down here because:

Worth the risk. Lovely up there. Doesn’t look anything like that from ground level.

Rolled outta bed late and dehydrated but still managed to hoist myself out to do the needful:

    ⛽ Car filled up

🚘 Car given a long overdue clean and vac - tired of Monday’s gunk

🌬️ Car tyres pumped although I still get the tyre pressure warning…

🥕 Bought fruit and veg at my old shops on the way back (almost drove back to my old place out of habit 💔)

🍲 That includes a shit tonne of vegan snags and easy cook shit at the Fancy Woollies which I miss DEARLY despite the shitty parking

🍦 Grabbed half price ice cream and cheap chips from the shops across the road

    🧹 Vacuumed the joint

🚿 Had a shower with hot water coming out of the cold tap, as usual on hot days, because this place sucks that way

    ❄️ Aircon on

🍽️ About to have a late lunch

That’s it. Staying PUT until Monday. I have plenty of food options. Window shades on my car windscreen because I’m not going anywhere. Need to buy a dash cover.

So many Severence theories to catch up on and then time for this week’s The Pitt, then I’ll need to tackle the dishes and get round to reading Juice tonight.

I didn’t mean to, but I also bought a copy of War and Peace today.

I guess I know how I’m spending the heat

I wish I could do gaming on the PC sometimes but after sitting and staring at a monitor for 40+ hours at work i just can’t do it.

Boyo finally got to see me have a gaming meltdown tanty after struggling with a POE2 boss just earlier. I’m not proud

I’m a PC and console gamer. Depends on the game. I do agree that sometimes sitting down to my PC to play after being at work all day makes me question life and I play a lot less these days… mostly because it makes my evenings go too quickly!!

I would love to setup a pc in the loungeroom connected to my large 4k TV and just use a controller.

Just being able to have mods is insane!!!

I don’t play during the week otherwise I’d play all night lol. I only play on weekends.

I think that’s understandable if you’re feeling that way and able to make that link.

Means you need a break from the computer screen.

Time to chill and do other things if you ask me.

I use a controller with my PC if I’m playing a game like Dark Souls.

I guess the switch is easier for me because I have a couple of hours between work and gaming with the boys’ evening routine

That makes sense. For me it’s the sitting position. I play guitar sitting on the floor because I can’t hack sitting in a chair again lol

Might watch Se7en now. I’ve been looking at what Cinema Nova’s been doing for their anniversary parties and following that

Edit: was good, but holy shit

Had a whole wedge of cheese bang on it’s best before date last night and no cheesemares so that’s nice.

I’m thinking we go to a shopping centre this afternoon to escape the heat, and I’ve also been trying to pick up some of the cheap nick-nack shit Kmart has on clearance, but balancing where everything is in stock has been a headache

I feel like I’m missing something fundamental in my life and I don’t know what. Perhaps it’s boredom and sense of fulfilment, because there is so much I can do with ice on my face for most of the day. I’m trying not to see the future as scary, but as something with hopefully some sort of excitement.

I think it’s normal to see the future as a bit scary. It’s the unknown.

Edit: Maybe that’s one of the most exciting things about being alive. You don’t know what’s around the corner.
