I’ll start with “Outland”. It’s about a crotchety Sheriff/Marshall investigating crimes on a mining colony on one of Jupiter’s moons, and the sidekick doctor that helps him solve them. The original film had a very “Alien” universe feel.

Pitch meeting: True Detctive meets Alien. Each season = one mystery.

Thought of another one. There’s an old movie from the 80s starring William Hurt called “Gorky Park”. It’s about Soviet-era investigator. I would watch a series about this guy solving crimes and conspiracies in the old Soviet Union. I think it’s based off a novel. If you haven’t seen it, it’s a good movie.

Unfortunately I think they did, a miniseries about the Jumper’s daughter, I think loosely based on the third book.

Given the relative dystopia we find ourselves in, I honestly think a TV adaptation of The Running Man might be quite fitting? Something of a cross between Ninja Warrior, Gladiators and Squid Game.

Given the current US administration, there’s an equal chance of it being fictional or an actual live-action game show featuring migrant ‘runners’ and masked ICE agent ‘stalkers’.

It’s funny and sad how ‘Alien’ has become a euphemism for ‘working class’ because that’s one of the thematic similarities they share and probably what you’re referring to.
