New: Bernie Sanders defends Graham Platner, calls him an “excellent candidate”

“There’s a young man who served his country in Afghanistan and Iraq, and he went through some really difficult experiences seeing friends of his killed or whatever, and in spite of all of that he had the courage to run”

“I personally think he is an excellent candidate. I’m going to support him, and I look forward to him becoming the next senator in the state of Maine”

Boomer checking in. I had no idea until this blew up that a skull and crossbones was associated with skinheads or nazi’s or anything right wing. Another common one is a skull with a dagger in the top and roses. Are those nazi also?

A skull with a dagger through it is used as the symbol of the most violent police squad im Brazil, specialized in killing poor people and had some training with the IDF (yes, it is the one you’re thinking about). Not sure if the symbol is connected to nazis, but it definitely isn’t good

Is that info well known in the tattoo artist community? If someone chose that symbol for it’s macabre nature, would the artist make sure the recipient was aware of it’s associations? I think there is possibly a lot of people that associate skull and crossbones with the pirate flag more than anything else. White supremacists might be aware of the Brazil connection, and I think in today’s environment of easy access to information, it would pay to research a tattoo before you put it in ink but it’s hard for me to bust on people for making stupid decisions in their youth, as I have made many.

Probably not outside of Brazil, but it is a popular chud symbol, wouldn’t say it’s nazi, but in favor of a violent police (death) squad. I’d see any skull stabbed by a dagger as being a certain type of conservative prick, but that’s here
