I can’t wait to get ahold of this from America’s up-and-coming medical black-market.

Maybe it will at least be cool like some kind of cyberpunk dystopia and I’ll have to go down under some basement in a neon-festooned Neo-Brooklyn with prostitutes inexplicably wearing armor and face-shields walking around.

Some dude with a cyber-eye and a robot monkey on his shoulder will look up and say “Ahh you want some of the good stuff? Some tetanus vaccine? Maybe measles shots? Some Tylenol? We have everything, just make sure you weren’t followed.”

Marjorie Green, a senior vice president at Merck, called the five-year follow-up data a “meaningful milestone” and “encouraging.”

    Unfortunate name

The last paragraph: “While the top-line results appear positive, conclusions can’t be drawn until the full data from the trial are published. The vaccines are also being developed amid a political environment hostile to mRNA vaccines. Anti-vaccine Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has railed against mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, making false claims about their safety and efficacy. In August, Kennedy unilaterally canceled $500 million in grant funding for the development of mRNA-based vaccines against diseases that pose pandemic threats.”

The current “Health Secretary” should carry the weight, personally, of the increased mortality and morbidity his policies have already and will continue to engender. May he stub his toe, knock his head, or bang his elbow/knee every time someone suffers from his policies.

its likely car-t TREATMENT, uses the patients specific cancer cell to make a vaccine against, which can be expensive. since different cancers have different mutations, and even some “same” cancers have different mutations one another in the same subtype.

Can you not get the HPV vaccine as a guy? Is it like not allowed in some areas? In my area, men, women, children, etc all can get it unless you’re close to retirement age.

Men can get HPV-associated penile cancers, although they are obviously much less common than cervical cancer. Still…you don’t want to lose your dick to dick cancer. Had a case somewhat recently at work with this scenario.

And besides penile cancer risk, the vaccine would help prevent it in their female partners. Or it can help prevent anal cancer in your male (or female) partners.

Idk it just seems like a win-win for everyone to get it.

Right, right, because of the crushing weight of responsibility should you transfer HPV between people. I understand. Well, I have good news for you! 😉

Bahaha. Ok I’m ngl this is why I haven’t gotten it either. Sometimes I decide I want to get it anyway “just in case”, but then I get lazy about it. 🙃

The cost will be INSANE whenever these become available, each vaccine is personalized to a specific cancer in a single person. But unlike other vaccines you wouldn’t be able to get one preventatively. They’re more like a treatment option which targets a cancer specifically (unlike chemo). Since every person’s cancer is different the vaccine needs to be custom made from a sample for a specific cancer in that specific person who already has it.

Considering that current cancer treatments are already incredibly expensive, I think there is a good chance that this vaccine might be the cheaper option in comparison.

Fair enough. I’m not sure I’d use the word vaccine for it but still some amazing stuff
