Free/Open Source Software tainted by LLM developers/developed by genAI boosters, along with alternatives.

The intention of this list is to raise awareness of this technology’s usage in popular software, as well as give people informed alternatives that they can reach for when they want to make decisions for themselves. This is not a list created so you can go and give these projects trouble for their decision. If you want to file a complaint about it with them, we consider that acceptable but ask that it be done respectfully and constructively.

This will throw out quite a few babies with bath water. I get that hard lines are more simple on the surface, but they rarely are in practice. What about local autocomplete. That probably alienates any software made in the past few decades. Local run open source models?

Throwing out jujutsu, for example, due to generating some test cases with language models just seems silly to me.

I want to add gzdoom to this list, was the most popular doom source port, ruined by retards and AI. For anyone intrested, uzdoom is the noai version.

Ugh, I use Bitwarden, and Starship might be enabled on Aurora (the atomic distro that I use) good to know what I have to try to fix this weekend.

I hate that some open source peeps are adopting LLM nonsense, as its the enemy of open source…A perfect weapon for corporate types and deluded techbros to attack open source projects.

The browser section needs expanding. Currently it only mentions Firefox, but there are more. Of the browsers I’ve personally used, mainly Vivaldi and Waterfox have been outspokenly against AI in browsers.

I wasn’t aware of many of these, but it’s now safe to assume that most commercial software will integrate AI in the near future

Back after the original dev got bullied out of the open source community, yay
